    3. Hi Lee, Limeburners Creek is still around- it runs into the Hastings River only a few Kms north-west of Port Macquarie from the north. As the name suggests, during the convict era here, it was a source of limeburning from the oyster shells in the area (for mortar in the building industry)and even today, there are a number of commercial oyster leases being worked. The creek drains swampy land and even in the 1890s there was only litle grazing done there. A number of ex convicts had land in this region also. Nothing much has changed since 1821.(my compliments to the north shore inhabitants!!!).If you can be more specific. I may be able to help you-can give you some of the landholders, etc. Ian, Port Macquarie ----- Original Message ----- From: Bob & Lee Mills <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, October 15, 2000 5:22 PM Subject: LIMEBURNERS CREEK, CAMDEN HAVEN > Can anyone please tell me about a place in the CAMDEN HAVEN area of NSW called LIMEBURNERS CREEK?
