Sorry for the lengthiness of this but it is a plea from a desperate woman!!!! I have limited info on Elizabeth SMITH. Born abt 1880 in County Cork as Elizabeth later known as Bridget Elizabeth. I think she came to Australia abt 1895/1896. Australian death certificates etc have been of little help. The only heresay info I have which might be of help, is that she arrived on the same ship as Mary Horgan (one of 13 young girls bought to Australia by Mother Mary Stanislaus D'Arcy to join Presentation Nuns in Lismore area. Although Mother Mary Agnes Horgan's obituary had her born in 1877 and stated that she arrived in Lismore March 1896. I'm desperate as Elizabeth was my ggrandmother and it's a big brick wall!!! I have her age on my grandmothers birth certificate in 1909 as 29 (which makes DOB 1880) & on her last child's birth cert as 49 in 1929 which corresponds with 1880. Her age listed on a birth in 1914 is 26 (DOB 1888) and in her obituary in 1951 as 61 (which makes dob 1890). A birth registered in 1906 states 18 (ie 1888) So she obviously didn't know or didn't want anyone else to know her age. I'm more confused than ever but am hanging onto this branch with all my strength Please throw me a lifeline (my arms are getting tired) This might help........... She died at ?23 Hallam Street North Lismore NSW as Bridget Elizabeth Atta-Singh Father: unknown Smith Occupation: unknown MOther: unknown Buried: Roman Catholic Cemetery Lismore Undertaker: William Riley & Son. She has been: Elizabeth Smith; Lizzie Smith; Elizabeth Atta-Singh & Bridget Elizabeth Atta-Singh. Makes it a whole lot clearer, doesn't it?????????? Bev in Brissie
