Hi NORCO Listers, I'm new to the list. I have just learned that my great-great grandfather, Alexander RAINE, and his wife Catherine GIBLIN, had a son in Port Macquarie in July 1844. When William was baptized in Feb 1845 (St. James Parish, County Cumberland), the listing indicates that they were still residents of Port Maquarie. They had a son (the only one that lived) in Auckland in 1840 and were in Tauranga, NZ in 1850, and here in California by 1852. Since RAINE was a shipbuilder/captain (and a bit goofy, perhaps), they moved around a lot. I would like to find other children they may have had, William's death, and their whereabouts from 1840-1844 and 1845-1850. The Port Macquarie Museum link on Paul's site didn't work today, nor can I find the museum on a search. Can someone tell me -- if RAINE built and/or sailed a schooner in and out of Port Macquarie for a few years, where might I find that information? Given that they were Roman Catholic, where might they have baptised any children there (perhaps they couldn't and that's why they went north for William). Only William appears on the BDM. Thanks so much. Kim in California
