Hi all Have just joined this list and am seeking information on the very early days of Port Macquarie circa 1823 when I believe members of the 42nd Reg (the Buffs) were posted there to supervise the convicts sent from Newcastle and Sydney. One of the marines may have been a Corporal Richard Murphy (wife Alice Unknown maiden name) . I don't have any other info on him, other than a possible daughter Mary Anne who (may have) married my gg grandfather Henry Rowley. I am hoping to confirm (or otherwise) this information, so any help would be appreciated. Other names I am researching John(Thomas) & Margaret DONNELLY(pre 1863); Frederick William MEARS (1838-1921); John CRANE m Susannah KERR (1834 before and after) Robert PEGLER (before 1848) Robert NAY/NEY ( 1832 to 1870) ROWLEY (1791 - 1900) Mary Jane NELSON (b c 1826 Kissing Point Ryde m c 1840 Charles Shepherd; m c 1845 ? Lewis - info after that is OK); Pat W.
