Listers, I would like to hear from anyone who has any information about the Nance families who moved from Sydney to West Kempsey around the 1860's or 1870's. I have found them listed in a Post office Directory for 1875-76 as residing at Commandant Hill, West Kempsey and other Nance's at Kempsey and East Kempsey. The father, Thomas, emigrated from Cornwall in 1844 with his wife Elizabeth, and two of his sons (John and Thomas) moved to Kempsey with their dad. I think that John may have been the Mayor of Kempsey around the turn of the century (1900). I would love to hear from anyone who may be able to fill in the gaps and/or confirm the above details.
