Dear All I have just received a copy of a marriage that took place on 21/6/1911 at the Church of St John the Divine, Taree. There are notes at the bottom that state that the written consent for the marriage, in this case for both the bride and groom was given, by his father and her guardian. My question is what would have happened to the written consents? Would they have been kept by the bride and groom? Would they be held by the minister in his records at the church? Or would the consents be forwarded to BDM as part of the legal/civic requirement? If anyone knows the answer I would love to hear it.
