Shoalhaven Family & Cultural History Fair Plans are well in hand and on target for the 2006 Shoalhaven History Fair to be held at the Nowra School of Arts over two days on Friday June 16 & Saturday June 17, admission is free. Discover the hidden treasures of our Shoalhaven on the South Coast NSW. If you have an interest in anything historical or Heritage, including genealogy and local history you should not miss this event. There will be displays and a variety of speakers will be giving a series of presentations. Professional historians and transcription agents will be on hand to give advice to help people with the personal family history research. There will be resources on at the fair enabling you to research your family history back to the first arrivals and then in their places or origin and beyond, along with an extensive display of genealogy and history products for sale and demonstrations over the two days. Speakers over the two days include Historian Keith Campbell on Religious views of Alexander Berry, Shuana Hicks from the Victorian Public Record Office, Transcription Agents Joy Murrin, Marilyn Rowan and Lawrence Turtle, Ray Thorburn from the Kiama Family History research Centre, Historian Cathy Dunn on People and Places - the future of history and others. There will also be display by various Family History & Historical Groups from the Shoalhaven Region, along with expo stall on the Library of Australian History, Society of Australian Genealogist, Shoalhaven heritage tourism, indigenous families of the South Coast, Shoalhaven's pioneers and local history, Lady Denman Huskisson and the Nowra museum and many more. This year's fair will also include the book launch of Masters & Convicts:Murramarang and Convicts by historian Cathy Dunn.
