Hello Leona, No, your grandfather would not have needed to be nationalised as he was already a British citizen, as we all were in those days. Re his service records ...... if you have contacted the authorities here ...... and they do not have any records for him ...... it is possible that he went back to England and enlisted there (a lot did). Or the family may have came out and he stayed behind ...... and came out after the war. And no, he wouldn't have had the same service number, even if he enlisted from Australia both times.
