Hi Looking for help with any Mumberson family members, who are descendants of Daniel Mumberson and Barbara Lancaster, who were married in 1845. Also wondering if anyone knows when/how Daniel arrived in Australia. They had 7 children that I've located so far. John, Joseph, William, Daniel, Sarah, Mathias and Mary. At various stages, it appears that differing family members made the move from the Robertson/South Coast areas to Murwillumbah and Lismore. Were they timbermen? Hello Folks on the quiet list.. I recently came into possession of a book "The Ways and Days of Old Time Nimbin"". It is an interesting publication and I found helpful for my research (Frith family). Messages regarding the quiet list prompt me to ask if anyone knows of any other publications about Nimbin? Cheers Jan
Hope someone can point me in the right direction. Maybe you can Daryl. Years ago I had 2 books (Grace & Mackay) placed on the Bellingen site. I now have a different email address and also I am no longer able to supply the Grace book. I have tried without success to contact whoever has control of the site to have my details changed. Any suggestions would be welcome Regards Nancy -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Version: 7.0.344 / Virus Database: 267.11.10/119 - Release Date: 10/4/2005

I wish to introduce myself to this list. My name is Colleen and I am trying to find details on JOHN DOYLE and ELIZA BRIDGET O'NEIL. This couple married in Ireland around 1860 and had 8 children. I have a copy of the original passenger list from the ship AFGHAN 1879 when our Doyles arrived in Oz, also onboard was Thomas and Barbara O'Neil with their children. (Bridget, Daniel and Thomas ??) From what I can gather, the O'Neil family settled in Kempsey and I think Thomas was the brother of Eliza Bridget Doyle (nee O'Neil) If anyone knows this family I would love to hear from you. Kind regards Colleen CENTRAL COAST NSW
Hello Rod, Thankyou for this information. I was not aware of the service for newspapers. I have often had books on inter library loan and should have thought of this myself. Dear Joy, All micro films of newspapers are avaliable at you local library through Inter Library Resource Sharing from the National Library in Canberra. The Daily News newspaper published in Murwillumbah is available on micro film, at least for the time frame October 1946 to December 1968. (and other time frames) The Northern Star published in Lismore is available on micro film from 1916 to 1968. (and other time frames) Some libraries charge for this service while others are free. Check with your local library. We hope this is of some assistance. Hello, Could SKS please tell me where I could locate a copy of the Murwillumbah dated May 1928? I would also like to check a copy of the same newspaper dated April 1949 and also The Northern Star for the same period. Is it possible to get photo copies of articles from these papers? Thanks Joy

Hi to all tanks to those who tried to assist me in finding the grave of Pearl SOUTHAN I cna not find her in any of the burial registers for the cemetries supervised by Bellingen Council. I noted on the Death Certificate that she died in Raleigh Hospital Bellingen 12.1.1929 I am not familiar with the area at all. Would anybody know of cemetries near Raleigh that were around in 1929? I think Bellingen was a fair way to travel from Raleigh in those days for a burial of a person who died in Raleigh Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am getting very frustrated Lyn Godden Wyong Shire, Australia lynjoy@hotkey.net.au

Thank you to those who answered assuring me I actually was on the list - My name of interest is Frith which is my husband's family. They came from Ireland and settled originally in the Hunter, but one branch at least went north and settled in Lismore. I would be grateful for any information on James Hamilton Frith born Hinton 1858 died Lismore 1941. He married Octavia Fretwell in 1880 at Wallsend. She was born 1863 at Wallsend and died at Lismore about the 1940s also. Anything relating to this couple and their issue would be of interest to me. The line I am connected to is the 4th child, Richard. Family legend has it that he was the first white child born at Nimbin. I am interested in the female side of things as well, and would love to get to know Adelaide Octavia better. Thank you Jan
Hi folks, I thought I had subscribed to this list, but the last email I got was saying I had been added to the subscriber list (4 Aug) and nothing since. Not even my own email listing my names of interest, what have I done wrong? Appreciate your help Jan
