    3. From a recent article in the Northern Star... Last night, Casino’s Sesquicentenary Committee launched the 150th anniversary publication for Casino and districts. The publication, which was compiled by the historical society and the sesquicentenary committee, is a 164page hand-bound book. It features a year-by-year account of Casino’s history, from the early 1850s to the present day. We spent hundreds of hours compiling the book," said Joan, who is the society’s president. "We looked through lots of old newspapers and encouraged locals to submit any interesting photos and history they had." A total of 600 books were printed, 394 of them personalised copies. "Families, businesses and organisations sponsored pages or years within the book," Joan said. "They received a gold cover page and personalised notation." Joan said the anniversary publication was important. "We haven’t had anything about Casino in general published since 1980," she said. "It is great to get the history of ordinary people recorded — not just prominent people. "It is extremely interesting to read about how they lived. I am really satisfied with the final product." The books are being sold at the Folk Museum today, from 10am to 3pm, and on Sunday, from 10am to 12.30pm, or call Joan Newman on 66622893.

    2. Reg & Carmen Johnson
    3. I am trying to locate a cousin whom we have not had contact with for about 50 years or so. The family is from Kempsey NSW and the name is Glen Olga Quinn who married George Barton Paterson in Kempsey in 1939. George (known as Barty) died in Canberra in 1958. They had a child, Pamela Patricia Paterson in 1944 and it is Pamela I am trying to locate. I have recently noticed a funeral notice for Glen Olga Quinn otherwise known as Glen Olga Cooke. So, I am assuming she remarried a Mr Cooke. Apparently she died in 1997 on the Central Coast. Everything seems that she is the former wife of Barty. Is there anyone on the list who might know the family and can assist me to reunite with cousin Pamela? I appreciate any assistance. Reg Canberra

    2. Maureen
    3. Hi Warren, John's Calings email address is acarina@actewagl.net.au The name of the list is Aus-nsw-norco-l@rootsweb.com. It is a mailing list, you have to subscribe first to aus-nsw-norco-l-request@rootsweb.com and type in the message section subscribe this then subscribes you to a list, it deals mainly with people that have had ancestors who came from the North Coast areas, and it generates a bit of mail, so you might get up to 10 emails a day sometimes. You dont have to answer them, just delete unless there are any of interest you would like to answer. I find it good and am on a few lists, I just sit and watch and if an email comes through with say Pratt or Newstead or any of the lines I'm interested in I reply. I have accrued nearly all of my information on my lines from these lists. If you are not sure, when I come down I will sign up for you, if you would like. I will post the details that you sent on the Tweed Historical Society and see how many people do write, I put in a suggestion last night for those interested to get this wonderful book up and running again. Please tell me about your two earlier books and what they are about. Take care my friend Maureen

    3. Hi everyone, I have emailed Warren Keats and he said its okay to contact him at keats@norex.com.au I think he has a couple of books left. He said if anybody out there is interested in the book Wollumbin, that if enough people wrote to the Tweed Historical Society that it may sway them to re-print it. Its just a thought. Best regards Maureen

    2. Maureen
    3. Hi all, I was just wondering how many of you have read the book Wollumbin? It is out of production at the moment, but there are moves to get it re-printed. Copies are at most libraries but most dont lend them out now. I would give an arm and a leg for one so am hoping that they do reprint it as I know already of about 50 who are wanting a copy. It is an awesome book, it mentions many of the early people in the lower Tweed and Grafton areas. My Pratt line get a mention as well as many of the other settlers. It is well worth going along to your local library or Historical Society and having a browse. Regards Maureen

    1. Flight to the Southland
    2. Maureen
    3. Hi everyone, I have had quite a few queries on the name of the book, it is Flight to the Southland. It is a true story and documents the life of Ebenezer Keats and Sarah Davenport(from the famous chinaware dynasty) who came to Australia. Ebenzer was involved in many ventures from master mariner through to cedar getting. He and Sarah even formed an early school for young ladies in the Inverell(from memory) area. He was a close associate of Francois and Mary Girard. Warren mentions many of the historical things that occurred in that time and has researched the information thoroughly. Warren received the order of Australia for forming the Lower Tweed Heads Historical Society. The book rang a bell with me because my family all came from Casino, Lismore and Grafton areas, so I was fascinated to find that he had my uncle's (Girard) line in his book, it is truly a small world. He also mentions many of the things that occurred globally through that time. I think he was a History teacher before he started writing. I am not sure where the book can be purchased but I can email him and ask if anybody is interested. I didnt name the book in the beginning because I wasnt sure it was within the rules of the list. Best regards Maureen

    3. Maclean area cemeteries USED to be on-line - it included other small local cemeteries, private cemeteries, & the Lawn cemetery. I think it may have 'gone off' when Maclean Shire became amalgamated & part of Clarence Valley Council (last year). The Maclean Historical Society has a book with Maclean Cemetery listings. 3. Hi Norco Listers I have The Maclean Historical society Lower Clarence Cemetery List book , and a Maclean cemetery file down loaded from Maclean city council site both of these how ever in a lot of cases only have the year of death and the initials of first names . I have a Maclean cemetery Excel file and when I find some one died and buried at Maclean I match an update this file with full birth dates death dates and full names when possible and notes some times giving parents names or spouses. this is why I was trying to get the people on the list to submit their people that are buried there. I will do a lookup for any one wishing for a lookup in these files and hope others will submit their folks buried there. Please check your family files for any one Buried in the Maclean cemeteries and submit to the list or email me direct Rod On 10/29/05, coraki <kinquest@gmail.com> wrote: > > Hi Norco Lister > I'm interested in any one that have been buried in Maclean cemeteries > I'v started with ALBERT and hope others will post their families buried > in Maclean > > > *Descendants of Adam ALBERT* > > 1 Adam ALBERT d: 17 May 1940 in New South Wales, Australia Cemetery: > Maclean Methodist Cemetery, age 80 New South Wales, Australia > > .. +Rachel DAVIS d: 02 May 1942 in Maclean, New South Wales, Australia Cemetery: > Maclean Methodist Cemetery, age 77 New South Wales, Australia > > ....... 2 Ellen Louisa ALBERT d: 22 Sep 1969 in New South Wales, Australia Cemetery: > 1969 Maclean Methodist, age 83 New South Wales, Australia > > ........... +William John JAMES d: 1975 in New South Wales, Australia Burial: > Maclean, New South Wales, Australia Cemetery: Maclean Methodist age 88, > New South Wales, Australia > > ....... 2 Thomas James ALBERT d: 09 Sep 1972 in New South Wales, Australia Cemetery: > 11 Sep 1972 Maclean Anglican, Lawn 126, New South Wales, Australia > > ....... 2 John Andrew ALBERT d: 02 Feb 1928 in New South Wales, Australia Burial: > Maclean, age 38 New South Wales, Australia Cemetery: Maclean Anglican,New > South Wales, Australia > > ........... +Ada Mc MILLAN d: 18 Sep 1972 in New South Wales, Australia Burial: > Sep 1972 Maclean, New South Wales, Australia Cemetery: Sep 1972 Maclean > Anglican, New South Wales, Australia > > ....... 2 Arthur George ALBERT d: 18 Jan 1974 in New South Wales, > Australia Burial: Maclean Columbarium W2/SS PLAQUE Cemetery: Jan 1974 > Maclean Anglican, headstone > > ........... +Lily Emily SELMAN d: 24 Jun 1990 in New South Wales, > Australia Burial: Maclean Columbarium W1/SS PLAQUE > > ....... 2 Ernest Edward ALBERT d: 11 Sep 1984 in New South Wales, > Australia Cemetery: 13 Sep 1984 Maclean Lawn T16, New South Wales, > Australia > > ........... +Edna Sybil KEMPHICH > > ....... 2 Cecil Gordon ALBERT d: 12 Dec 1981 > > ........... +Mavis Kathleen SMIDT d: 10 Jan 1963 in New South Wales, > Australia Cemetery: Jan 1963 Maclean Anglican, New South Wales, Australia > > Rod > >

    2. Ann Perriman
    3. I am writing in the hope someone may be able to help with my missing great aunt. Edith Jane Perriman - born in Wagga in 1874 seems to have disappeared except for a newspaper report of her mother's death which referred to Edith as Mrs Arkinstall of Coff's Harbour! As there is no record of her marriage in the BDMs, I feel she may have eloped and that Mr Arkinstall could have been already married. Does anyone have a possible match in their records? I would be so grateful if you can solve the mystery. Kind regards Ann Perriman
