Hi everyone, I'm looking for any info about the descendants of William Edward VINCENT and his wife Anne Sophia. This is a little about his occupation in Grafton. I'd like to find out about his descendants. snip>>> In June 1859 he established a weekly newspaper, the Clarence and Richmond Examiner , in Grafton, northern New South Wales. As in Wellington (NZ) he sought to support the commercial community rather than the pastoralists, but his principal backer disapproved and early in 1861 the Examiner was sold off. A few months later Vincent began the Clarence and Richmond Independent , which was barely established when he died at Grafton on 22 November 1861. His two eldest sons, Henry (aged 14) and Frank (nearly 12), continued the paper, the first of many Vincent-owned newspapers in the district.<<< If anyone has news, obits etc about Henry, Frank or others with the surname Vincent, I'll love to hear from you.I'm doing this research for a friend, her g/g/g.m was Anne Sophia VINCENT. Many thanks and ,-._|\ best wishes, / Oz \ jill , brisbane. \_,--.x/ jmglover@tpg.com.au v

Hi I checked the Ryerson Index but currently it is only updated til 24 January 2006. It should be further along soon as they are pretty up to date. Try maybe in about a week otherwise if you contact the local paper in that area they may be able to assist http://www.rootsweb.com/~nswsdps/dpsindex.htm Good luck Ellen McNally mcnallyel@yahoo.com ____________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Good evening all. I am new to the group . I am currently researching my immediate family who were all born & raised in the Lismore, Nashua & Nimbin areas. My relatives are the Thurgate, Beckman, Marsh & Walker families. I have (to date & counting) 6 convict relatives in various lines. In my travels I have acquired a photo of the Nashua School pupils from 1912 & was wondering if any of the group would know of anyone who could identify the students. I am happy to email the photo if required. An interesting anecdote to the photo is that it was taken on the day that the school inspector visited & apparently as the school did not have the required numbers of pupils to remain open they enlisted the assistance of many under age children to fill the gap. The photo does in fact appear to have many very young children in attendance. Regards Glen Walker Lake Macquarie

Hi listers Does anyone know if I can get a copy of a booklet "Jiggi - 75th Anniversary 1899-1973" (Jiggi Public School). Printed by Lismore City Printery. It includes stories of my Davis / Scheibel ancestors and I would very much like a copy. TIA Bev in Brisbane
Hello Listers, I have in my possession an old Oxford edition Bible, brown leather cover, a couple of cut-outs in the back of the book and an inscription inside the front cover. If a relationship to the original owner can be established, I would like to return it to the family. Part of the inscription is as follows: "..............READ, With love from her mother. Christmas 1891" (First name withheld pending proof of ownership) The Bible is in reasonable condition with some wear and tear on the spine. Please contact me by email if you think you may be related. Thank you to everyone for your information on our line in Bellingen. I'm still trying to fit them all together [the Fernmount Cemetery listing for Avis GALE nee IDES gave her death in 1928 but I couldn't find her death in NSW BDM??] Could someone please offer advise on how to find children of marriage if married after 1905? [I've mainly been doing look-ups at NSW BDM Registry OnLine which only has births up to 1905] Also I've noticed a post, which also has the subject "Bellingen", thanking for information on Mumfords and Blanches. I couldn't find the original posting giving the information and would be interested to find out because I am also from this line! Hello Pam & all the listers on Norco, I must apologise to everyone for any inconvenience that I may have caused with having the wrong date on any emails that had been posted in the last week. My video card died on my computer last Monday and after the computer technician replaced it I didn't think to check the date when I had it returned. It wasn't until three days later when I wanted to check on an email I had sent out that I couldn't find it because it had been filed at the bottom of the list. Most of the emails would have been dated 6/1/2002. Thank you to everyone who sent reminders for me to adjust the date. It is all back in working order again. Regards...Yvonne PMcQ Australia
Hi Yvonne, A small point, but can be important. You might want to change the date on your computer from 2002 to 2006. (You can do this by right-clicking on the time in your system tray). Otherwise in the archives it gets very confusing as your messages are filed under 4 years ago and the replies are filed in a different place, under 2006.
