I have the marriages of John McFadden and Louisa Cook in 1868 but there are no parents listed. I also have the marriage of Patrick John Murphy and Margaret Coughlan also with no parents listed. 3. Hi Everyone, I took some of the young people I work with to Bowraville Folk Museum last week, and I just wanted to highly recommend it to anyone who is passing through Bowraville. The museum itself it set up in a hands on way, and is a journey through Australian history that all ages will enjoy. I don't have any affiliation with the people who run the museum, but I was just so impressed with it that I wanted to recommend it highly. Especially if you have any ancestors from the area, the volunteers are very helpful and there are heaps of books and photos of interest. Allow a good half to full day to see it all. Cheers, Kylie May you be filled with loving kindness. May you be well. May you be peaceful and at ease. May you be happy. ancient - tibetan buddhist - blessing http://beadybabe.blogspot.com/

    1. [NORCO] FITZSIMMONS Family/CURRAN mystery
    2. Cathy Haynes
    3. Hi Bill These aren't my FITZSIMMONS people I'm sorry to say. The first "New Aussie" FITZSIMMONS in my line is Michael FITZSIMMONS, a convict from Co Louth, Ireland who arrived in Australia in 1831, and lived and settled in the Dungog area. His eldest daughter Ann FITZSIMMONS emigrated to Australia after her mother (Michael's first wife) died back in Ireland. Michael, meanwhile had commenced a LARGE family with Mary MCNAMARA in Dungog. Ann married Thomas CURRAN in Dungog in 1854 and they moved north to GRAFTON when Thomas contracted TB, presumably for the better weather. They had three children at the time, Margaret AKA Maggie, Jemima Wyndham and Thomas William CURRAN. Thomas died in 1865, and Ann remarried Charles WILLIAMS, an American in 1866. Ann died in suspicious circumstances in 1867 in Grafton, orphaning her 3 children at ages 11, 9 and 7. Now here is the mystery; I have no idea who looked after the children after their parent's deaths, and I can't find a marriage or death record in the NSW BDM for Jemima at all. It looks like Maggie married Isaac DUFFY in 1874 in Grafton. They seem to have had only one child, Alexander DUFFY in 1876, and then I cant find a death record for Maggie, although I did find one for Isaac in 1882. I do know what happened to Thomas however - he was my GGGrandfather. He believed for his whole life that he was born in Grafton (however it was Dungog) and he consistently understated his age by three years his whole life. Does anyone know what happened to Maggie or Jemima? I have tried every version of the spelling of Jemima, and found only one marriage in Grafton: 3236/1879 BYRNES JOHN THO NEWPORT JAMINA GRAFTON I cant find a birth for a Jamina or Jemima NEWPORT. Did these people adopt Jemima? Does anyone have connections to the above people? Any info or help would be greatly appreciated. 3. Dear Cathy Replying to your research interest in the FITZSIMMONS family: my wife, Judy, has a 2nd great grandmother, Rise Emily FITZSIMMONS,whose parents were Patrick FITZSIMMONS and Eleanor (nee DUFF) . Rose's marriage certificate says that her birthplace was Dublin in 1856. She married Robert Kerr MURRAY,(born 1843 at Dundalk, County Louth) on Christmas Day, 1880 at Tenterfield NSW. I would be interested to learn if this line of the FITZSIMMONS has been researched by you and would be happy to share the further information I have. Bill Moyle moylebill@bigpond.com

    3. hello Kerry, I don't know if this will help but I have a book called "North Coast Run' The Men and Ships of the NSW North Coast by Mike Richards. There are many ships named in this book as well as shipping companies, but not passengers. It may help to have a look at Rod Gow"s Index at a library as they sometimes give the name of people travelling along the coast. Hope this helps Sandra ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kerry Bugden" <kbbugden@ozemail.com.au> To: <AUS-NSW-NORCO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, September 17, 2006 12:46 PM Subject: [NORCO] Ships to the Clarence > > Hi everyone, > I am hoping someone can give me some information or point me in the right > direction. > > The female members of the Bugden family traveled from the Hunter to > Grafton > in 1870/1871 to join the men of the family who had traveled overland. > These family members would have included Margaret Bugden, Leonora Bugden, > Ellen and Mary Lulham and numerous children. > I would like to know what ship they travelled on an if there was a > passenger > list. > > Thank you for any help you can give me. > > Kerry Bugden > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > AUS-NSW-NORCO-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message
