I was wondering if anyone can help me with any information at all on a POLICEMAN called JOHN COOK. I do know that he was serving at GRAFTON Police Station in 1922 at the time of his mother's death and his wife's name was CONSTANCE. He would have been 56 years old in 1922. Would love to find out more about him. Hope someone can help Thanks Lee Lee Mills North Nowra N.S.W. Australia
Hi, Hoping someone can tell me where I might be able to obtain a copy of the following book. "The Road to the River" covering Draylines to Deep Water in the 1839 to 1939 period. It was publishd in 1977 (2nd edition). Thanks, Kathi G Bundaberg, QLD
Hello Alice Thank you very much for the info. on Thomas McKELL and Honora GUINEA. They fit into my family through the McKELL/EVEREST family shown at the end of this message. I am very happy to be able to add the extra info. to my files so once again, thank you. I too, love to be able to help others with their research. BTW - When I borrowed a book titled 'History of Tyalgum & District' which was printed by Summerland Printers P/L I noticed several references to a GUINEA family. Names noted were Hilda & Eileen GUINEA, students of Brays Creek School 1922. (photo) Den GUINEA, who was the initial owner of what later became Ted MERRYWEATHERS's farm. Den's wonderful crop of corn is also mentioned as is a map showing his Tyalgum Creek Selection. Mick GUINEA, who took over Bill PHILLIP's (who lived at Crystal Creek) cream carrying run. This GUINEA family is possibly covered more in the book but this is all I have on the pages copied. I think you were responding to a Lee. Honora Guinea was the daughter of Daniel Guinea and Mary Carney, b 1882, Tweed River; m 1912, Murwillumbah; spouse, Thomas G McKell, known as Tom and said to be from Tweed River area but born Maclean; my family informant said family moved to Qld. The Guinea family settled in an area known as North Arm on the Tweed River; the particular place was known as Boatharbour, later called Crystal Creek. Honora went to the Crystal Creek Public School and the Guinea family were a vital presence on the North Arm for many years. I collected this information for the Centenary of the Crystal Creek school and my History course at university. Regards, Alice >>

>Hi Warren Unfortunatly no. Kempsey has two cemetry's one at East Kempsey and one at West Kempsey(beside hospital). Some years ago the Historical Society undertook the massive task of listing the headstones. The sad part is that two floods either washed away some headstones or washed away the inscriptions. The Council holds records.I won't be in Kempsey for another three weeks. but if you don't get any offers, I would be happy to check the Council records for you. You will find it listed there as held by the NSL under a slightly different title employing the singular - "When the River was the Road" You will find it in the Heads branch. Assuming you are Brisbane the SL may be able to get it in for you on inter library loan. John Brisbane
Hi all, The above index has been transcribed by Janette Childs and is now on line on Bellingen Gen Web. You can access it through either the Welcome page as added 2 May 2000 or through the books page. (See http://www.rootsweb.com/~nswbelli/indexes/menriver.html for direct access) As I write the site is being re-indexed, so by Wednesday morning you should be able to search from the yellow search box on the Welcome page and pick up any references from the Index to Men and a River. Many thanks to Janette Childs for her efforts in transcribing this index. If you can help by transcribing or scanning an index to a North Coast book see http://www.rootsweb.com/~nswbelli/transcribe.html , pick a book from the books page http://www.rootsweb.com/~nswbelli/books.html that is not already being indexed and let me know by emailing [email protected] that you will do it. Cheers Paul Hanly Rhodes, Sydney, Australia Bellingen Gen Web www.rootsweb.com/~nswbelli/ Check out the books page http://www.rootsweb.com/~nswbelli/books.html which covers most North Coast Books, many of which have been indexed and the indexes are searchable from the Welcome page [email protected] North Coast NSW mail list
Can anyone tell me the details of this book and I will add it to the books page. Jenny, if you get a copy would you be willing to transcribe the index? Hi guys, Question, is Kempsey Cemetry on line anywhere, for a look up please. Warren

Jennifer, Urunga is in Bellingen Shire and I would be happy to look at Urunga Cemetery for you. I could take a digital photograph of any headstones you may be interested in. What names were you particularly interested in? Hi I was wondering if anyone out there has heard of a book "WHEN THE RIVERS WERE ROADS" written by Glenn Bradley If so do they know where I might be able to get a copy. Thanks in Advance Jenny Jones
You could try Bellingen Council http://www.bellingen.nsw.gov.au/ or ring the Historical Society see http://www.rootsweb.com/~nswbelli/histsoc.html Cheers Paul Hanly Rhodes, Sydney, Australia Bellingen Gen Web www.rootsweb.com/~nswbelli/ Check out the books page http://www.rootsweb.com/~nswbelli/books.html which covers most North Coast Books, many of which have been indexed and the indexes are searchable from the Welcome page [email protected] North Coast NSW mail list ----- Original Message ----- From: Jennifer Burt <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, April 30, 2000 10:56 PM Subject: URUNGA CEMETERY > Can SKS tell me whether there is an index available for Urunga cemetery ? > If not what council would it fall under ? > > I have just been told informed by a wonderful man by the name of John T. > Brown that there is a burial recorded Frank Alexander MORSE at Urunga 17th > August 1918 .....even though he is not listed on the BDM index (??) > > TIA > regards > Jennifer > Batemans Bay > [email protected] > Searching for MORSE in Somerset, Bedford, Middlesex, India and Australia and > also FORWOOD in UK and Australia > > > ==== AUS-NSW-NORCO Mailing List ==== > Why not put your GEDCOM on line at > http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/ > >
I would also be interested to know if there is an index for Urunga cemetery. Also, is there anyone out there that could help locate some missing family? My great aunt Daisy Davis was born in Taree in 1895, daughter of Edward Davis and Mary Laurie. She married William J Howard in 1920. Her brother Ednie Manning was my grandfather and her sister Leith was my great aunt - Leith married Peter Charleston and lived in Grafton. For some reason or other, the family lost track of Daisy - I remember hearing when Aunty Leith was alive that there was an aunt Daisy who had moved to Melbourne. My family and I would love to find Daisy's descendants, if anyone can help at all.
