    3. I am researching the family of Daniel WIRTH and Angelina CHAPMAN who were married in 1872 at the Wesleyan church at GLEN INNES. Children were Daniel, Rupert, Mary Ann Catherine, Violet, Ivy, Ada, William, Robert, Alma, John. Hopefully someone will be able to answer the following questions for me. Does the Wesleyan church in Glen Innes still exist? Can I access church records, if so how? Is there a historical society in Glen Innes? Are there transcription records of the Glen Innes cemetery? I thought the local library might have them but alas not so. I am new to this research business so appreciate any help. Maureen Blake

    1. OFF TOPIC (SORRY)-Rhodes Redevelopment - Please forward to all environmental groups, media and people who drive over Ryde Bridge
    2. Paul Hanly
    3. Rhodes Redevelopment - Please forward to all environmental groups, media and people who drive over Ryde Bridge There is a huge redevelopment proposed for the Rhodes Peninsula near the Olympic site and Homebush Bay (Sydney, Australia). See http://drive.to/rhodes There are huge problems with contamination of Homebush Bay, the former Allied Feeds site (owned by a company in the BT funds management group) the former Union Carbide site (now apparently controlled by the NSW government) and the former CSR Chemicals and Berger Paints sites (now apparently owned by Orica a public listed company). http://freepages.houses.rootsweb.com/~pmh1/Contamination.htm There will also be almost unbelievable problems with traffic across Ryde Bridge and for residents of and workers in Rhodes. http://freepages.houses.rootsweb.com/~pmh1/Traffic.htm The Bicentennial Park and Newington wetlands are potentially threatened as there is no Riparian Protection Zone proposed, even though it is NSW government policy. These wetland are populated by species supposedly protected under the JAMBA and CAMBA treaties. http://freepages.houses.rootsweb.com/~pmh1/wetland.htm DUAP's plans include putting 6,000 residents within 500 metres of the most sewerage polluted part of Sydney harbour, Homebush Bay. http://freepages.houses.rootsweb.com/~pmh1/Sewerage.htm Remediation is proposed to be carried out using "new" technology, but DUAP, the site owners and Waterways have declined to engage the local community in discussions about remediation and how the health of the local community will be protected during remediation. There is no "safe" level for dioxin. The already gazetted plan involves an incredible overdevelopment of the site compared to other developments in Sydney. There are inadequate facilities to support a development of this scale in the area and there is no provision presently for pre-schools, primary schools, high school places, policing, active recreation and the like. http://freepages.houses.rootsweb.com/~pmh1/Overdevelopment.htm This development is as irresponsible as the Waterways allowing the dumping of materials from Union Carbide into Homebush Bay in the first place. 1. McDermott in Bangalow.
    2. T. Bryan & B. Garvey
    3. Hello listers, I am a new subscriber and I'm researching my gg grandfather Duncan McDERMOTT who lived in the Bangalow district in the early 1900s. Duncan was born in Kiama in 1851 and made the move up north sometime after his wife Susan (nee Stokes) died in 1897. In 1902 Duncan married the widow Elizabeth Ryan (nee O'Brien) at Bangalow. Elizabeth's husband Thomas Ryan died at Bangalow in 1900, leaving her with seven children to raise. Duncan McDermott died at his property at Coorabell in 1915 and is buried at the Bangalow Cemetery. I would very much like to locate an obituary or any mention of Duncan's death in the local newspaper of the day. Would this be the Northern Star and has it been indexed? Best wishes, Terri. 3. Roslyn - on the 1903 Electoral Roll for Richmond (Murwillumbah Polling-place), p14, there is an entry:- 957, TAIT, Alexander, male, Murwillumbah, painter. There is also 958, TATE, Agnes Frances Bradson, female, Middle Arm, domestic duties [in case both spelling is used]. There is a home still standing on Upper Crystal Creek Road which I have been told was built by an Eric TATE who was a carrier I believe. There was a A.E.D Long who was very prominent in the first decades of this century in public life in Coffs Harbour (racecourse, Park Beach Recreation Reserve, Hospital Committee & Show Society etc). He was alive in 1917 but deceased before late 1928. His firm Bull & Long started as general commission agents in 1907. After about 1917 it was soley carried on by A.E.D. His photo as a member of the 1914 Coffs Show Committee appears on page 114 of "Coffs Harbour: pre-1880 to 1945" by Neil T.M. Yeates (Coffs Harbour City Council & the author, 1990). Yeates gave as a source reference re A.E.D.' business "Guide to Dorrigo Shire 1917" by T. W. Comyns !!. I had a quick look in online NSW BDM's but failed to find his death, the nearest being an Albert R. Long in the first part 1928 ??? Charlie Long appears on page 182 in a 1921 photo of students in the Coffs super-primary class. He is listed in the 1938 Post Office Commercial Directory as a painter. In same there is a W. Long listed as a carpenter. The WW I Roll of Honour for the Coffs Harbour district lists a D.J. Long and a W.A. Long. John Brisbane GENEALOGY HOMEPAGE: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jray
