The number with the V is a film number which could be available through your local LDS library or local library if they have a good Gene section.... They are microfilm of parish records of Australia. Hello all Can anyone help me? I'm having trouble with a couple of people -- one lot of information says they had to have been born in Engand but they are listed in the NSW BDMs with registration numbers with the prefix V and the final four digits are consecutive. Is it possible that some non-NSW births are listed ?? Yours in a seemingly perpetual state of confusion Elaine
Hi List I am researching the above name, has anyone come across it. Regards Frank
Hi Everyone Great news... I have just been to the NSW BDM site, and guess what, you can now purchase the certificates direct off the site...Cost $20.00 Go to www.bdm.nsw.gov.au then into the search BDM, once you go into that it takes you to a new site, after 5 seconds, where you can do the usual look-up BUT it now has a Shopping trolley at the top and also an Add to Shopping Trolley beside the names once you have entered your search details. I entered one to check out what happened and once you click the Add to Shopping Trolley it then takes you into another screen where it tells you the cost and if you then continue, you would give your payment details and they send you out the certificate. I checked out the Whats New section on the site but no mention of this new facility...Hope the details above are of help to everyone. Kind regards Judy Rowe Qld Email [email protected]
Elaine - No, but I would be very interested in the details and any opinions listers might have. TIA. Alice Erickson, Family Historian, Wark/Stewart Coonabarabran area, Erickson/Slyney Taree area, NSW; Convenor DPS Coonabarabran; Listowner AUS-NSW-PILLIGA.
Hi A TAFE college is offering a one day "Family history on the Internet" course. Has anyone done one of these and, if so, have they found it worthwhile? thanks Elaine
Sorry if this is old news to anyone but I have just discovered that there are two more databases to search for immigration at http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/default.htm They are the Index to assisted immigrants arriving in Sydney, 1860-79 Index to assisted immigrants arriving in Sydney, 1880-96 Elaine
Hi all, Don't forget that you can search the Norco archives for 1999 and 2000 for you relatives by going to the Bellingen Gen Web Page at http://www.rootsweb.com/~nswbelli/ and scrolling down below the picture of the river. You can also use the Yellow search box in the same place to search the whole site which includes a number of on-line book indexes for the NSW North Coast Book Indexing Project. Newer researchers are particularly encouraged to do these searches. People who posted for your family before you joined the Norco mail list may have unsubscribed before you joined, but there message and their email address (hopefully still current) are in the archives! All the best for the new year. Hi Rhonda, The immigrant index on-line has the following Jackson's: http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/publications/immigration/index1844-59/search.htm Ship 'Stebonheath' arrived 1858 1. Ann Jackson - age 21 - c.1837 2. Emma Jackson - age 22 - c.1836 3. Henrietta Jackson - age 19 - c.1839 4. James Jackson - age 18 - c.1840 Maybe brothers & sisters. I recently obtained a list for a married couple who sailed to NSW in 1857, it also included on the list, where they were born and that the husband's parents were deceased and only the wife's mother was still alive. I thought the last piece of information was most helpful, as I probably wouldn't have found that info elsewhere. Is Henrietta's death: year 1900 - parents: Herz & Frances - Lismore? Hi All I am trying to find parents for Henrietta Frances JACKSON who married Benjamin COOPER at Richmond River 1859. The COOPER family was involved with Cedar cutting industry around Gundurimbah. On the marriage certificate her birthplace is shown as Leister (possibly should be Leicester) and her mother's maiden name as Frances HERBERT. Age on the certificate indicates she was born around 1838 although I feel it may be more like 1841. From her Death Certificate it would appear that she came to Australia around 1847. Some documentation shows her Christian names as Frances Henrietta or Henrietta Frances. While I have many details for her after her marriage it would be great to know her heritage. Will gladly exchange my data with anyone who has similar interests. Regards Rhonda Paine, Central Mangrove.

Hi I am a newbie .... so please have patience if I ask 'dumb questions' <g> My interest is in the ship St George which arrived in Port Jackson in 1838 with emigrants from Scotland. I know that one of these emigrants finally found his way up to places called Waregah Island and North Arm. So am I on the right list to ask questions? I have not been able to locate Waregah Island on the Australian Gazetter but since Alexander McPherson died here and was buried the next day at Maclean I presume the areas are close by. Alexander's son, Alexander went to live at North Arm - there are a couple on the Gazetter, one near Lismore and another further into Queensland, so now I wonder how I will find out where he went. Any help would be appreciated. TIA Sharon
Hi Pamela, Thanks for that ... I actually made a typo error and Piggabeen it is ! An address of one of my relatives just gives "Piggabeen" TH, so wasn't sure if it was a property name or area. I'll try to see if I can find it on a map ... thanks again.
