    3. When Mrs Hannah DEITZ died at Nowra in 1939, her obituary states that one of her surviving daughters was "Mabel (Mrs McDonald, Kyogle)". Does anyone know anything about Mabel McDonald? The problem I have is that I am almost certain the only likely Mabel DEITZ (b.1889 Kiama to Philip DEITZ and Hannah BRIDGE) had married Thomas Henry MAXWELL at Lismore in 1910. Thomas had previously been married to Mabel's sister Myrtle, who died in 1909. I cannot find a marriage registration for a McDONALD to Mabel DEITZ. Who was Mabel McDONALD? 2. I have sent for a Death Certificate of a Louisa Hansen nee Rediger and it says she died in a Benevolent Asylum in Melbourne. I don't know if she was a resident or if she worked there. Does anyone know where I could check? She died in 1911, not all that long ago. Also there was an inquest into her death, where could I get the details, and would that help me with any family connections, I guess not, there are none listed on the death cert. I think that is because she went into hiding as her husband (in Grafton) was going to kill her. Jennie Rediger [email protected]

    3. Hi Jennie, I have been looking at coastal shipping lately, but have found it difficult. The only passengers mentioned are those in first class cabins. Others are mentioned as '12 in steerage' for example. I am interested in the schooner 'Alpha' which sailed from Melbourne to the Richmond River in 1867, for the cedar trade, but so far no luck on details. 1. The Norco List - 233 subscribers interested in NSW North Coast Genealogy
    2. Paul Hanly (Hotmail)
    3. Hi all, Just a couple of reminders: 1. The Norco list is hosted by Rootsweb http://www.rootsweb.com/ Rootsweb has a wide range of genealogical resources available free. It's companion website is Bellingen Gen Web incorporating the NSW North Coast Book Indexing Project. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nswbelli More details about Norco are at http://www.rootsweb.com/~nswbelli/norco.html . 2. The archives of the Norco list are searchable at http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl Just type "AUS-NSW-NORCO-L" (without the " marks) and you will be taken to the search page. If you type in another valid list name you can search that list instead. 3. You can also search the Norco list (and other NSW lists) from http://resources.rootsweb.com/world/Australia/NewSouthWales/ but only the bottom group of searches seem to work properly, at least for Norco. 4. Rootsweb's Australian web sites and email lists for all states can be found through http://resources.rootsweb.com/world/Australia.html 5. Bellingen Gen Web www.rootsweb.com/~nswbelli/ is associated with the Norco list and in particular the books, links, archives and settlers pages and database may be of assistance even for non Bellingen enquiries. If you have something about Bellingen district, or an index of a book relating to the NSW North Coast you would like to submit please email [email protected] 6. Please post your interests every 2 or 3 months or so for the benefit of new subscribers to the list. They may have that information you are looking for, but be too shy to post! 7. It helps if you put the Surname, First name; Place; Year to Year in the message subject as that makes it very easy to see whether messages in the archives are relevant to you. 8. Spread the word about Norco when replying to messages on other lists. In Outlook Express 5 You can use Tools>Options>Signatures and add a signature like the one below, then use Insert>Signature on each message. 9. Keep up the goodness by helping answer queries and being nice to one another, particularly those whose questions may indicate that they have little experience, or have no experience in working with microfiche, indexes, bureaucracies, etc. 10. Procedures for subscribing and unsubscribing are below my name and on the web page http://www.rootsweb.com/~nswbelli/norco.html Kind regards to all Paul Hanly Rhodes, Sydney, Australia Coordinator Bellingen Gen Web www.rootsweb.com/~nswbelli/ [email protected] North Coast NSW mail list A mailing list for North Coast NSW has been established. People can subscribe to the list in mail mode by sending a message to [email protected] that contains the word subscribe and nothing else. 3. Hello everybody I hope what I am doing is considered acceptable by all lists but I just received the following information and feel sure that there would be others who were interested. The news concerns the website http://census.pro.gov.uk/ The following is a quote from the page - "This Website is a pilot for the release of the whole of the 1901 Census for England and Wales, which will be made available on the Internet from the first working day of 2002. This pilot consists of the digitised returns for the county of Norfolk from the 1891 Census. The Census reveals who was living at a particular address in each city, town and village on census night (5th April 1891)." I'm sure there are a lot of us who will be looking forward to this happening. Elaine

    3. Hi NORCO Listers, I'm new to the list. I have just learned that my great-great grandfather, Alexander RAINE, and his wife Catherine GIBLIN, had a son in Port Macquarie in July 1844. When William was baptized in Feb 1845 (St. James Parish, County Cumberland), the listing indicates that they were still residents of Port Maquarie. They had a son (the only one that lived) in Auckland in 1840 and were in Tauranga, NZ in 1850, and here in California by 1852. Since RAINE was a shipbuilder/captain (and a bit goofy, perhaps), they moved around a lot. I would like to find other children they may have had, William's death, and their whereabouts from 1840-1844 and 1845-1850. The Port Macquarie Museum link on Paul's site didn't work today, nor can I find the museum on a search. Can someone tell me -- if RAINE built and/or sailed a schooner in and out of Port Macquarie for a few years, where might I find that information? Given that they were Roman Catholic, where might they have baptised any children there (perhaps they couldn't and that's why they went north for William). Only William appears on the BDM. Thanks so much. Kim in California

    3. The NSW probate index lists the following deaths as both occurring on February 16th, 1941. Edward Arthur BOXSELL of Tyalgum Leonard Marshall BOXSELL of near Murwillumbah These two were first cousins. Both would only have been aged about 40. Does anyone have any info from local sources which would explain the deaths on the same day? Given their ages, I'm thinking an accident of some sort would be most likely.
