Hi List, My gt-grandmother was Eliza WEBB. Eliza, born 12th September 1841, in Cowlinge, Suffolk, UK was the daughter of John Webb and Tabitha Frost. Along with her parents, sister Harriet and brother Jonathon she came to New South Wales on board the ship Kate. There were 9 WEBBs on this ship, all from the one family. They arrived in Sydney 16th October 1852. Elizas parents were both 45 years of age when they arrived here, and with them came Elizas elder brother, Thomas, who was born c1830. He brought his wife Mary Ann, and daughters Jane aged 2 and Elizabeth M. 8 months. Thomas is buried with his parents in Rookwood Cemetery. Eliza gives Jamberoo as her address at the time of her marriage. However, a photo of her has a notation on the back that she grew up on an island in the Clarence River. She married Johann Jakob Fridrich SOMMER - known mostly as John Fredrick Sommer - on 19th August 1871 at 226 Albion Street, Surry Hills, Sydney, according to the rites of the Independent Church. He gave his address as Palmers Island, which I understand, is an island in the Clarence River not far from Yamba. Can anyone tell me if there are any histories of this area which might show the WEBB family? Hi everyone Sorry about cross-posting, but the area's in question cover both. Bit of a story first before my query. My father was one of the youngest of 14 WHITE children from Taree. He has recently passed away and many of his brothers and sisters are also deceased. The nephews and nieces have decided its high time to get together before we all forget each other (huge age differences). My query is does anyone have access to the Manning Times (? I think that's the name it went by) for the years between 1940 and 1970. I would like to chase up - Wedding Notices, Birth Notices & Death Notices for the Family. I am able to provide dates for those I am after. Ideally I would like to do the research myself, but getting to Taree is just not possible for a while. Or does anyone know how else I can check for these notices? Many thanks for your patience Maria Thomas Lake Munmorah NSW, Australia

Please remember to mark on your forms whether or not you would like your contact details printed or if you are sending Family Fact Sheets, please include a small note of your contact details & permission to do so. Anyway anyone who missed my earlier postings on the Pioneer Register please feel free to send me an email and I will be happy to fill you in on the details. Kind Regards Annette Mills

Hi all. Not sure if this list covers Kepsey, but I have a look-up in the Argus for a funeral notice that was published on 3 Nov 1998. The persons name was Edna Mavis AINSWORTH, and hoping that it may reveal who her family was. Cheers ... Maria Thomas Lake Munmorah NSW, Australia Hi everyone Please excuse the cross-postings, I have no idea where this gentleman ended up. Michael WHITE born 15 Dec 1862 (my GG Uncle) at Morpeth. I know he was alive in 1935 as he was a pall-bearer for my GO Grandfather in Taree. Michael's parents were Michael WHITE (again the name) and Susan McDonnell or McDonald. Michael's father died in 1863 at Morpeth, so Michael was not one year old at his death. I do not know if Susan re-married. Michael (Jnr) siblings were Christopher, known as Thomas (my GO Grandfather), Agnes Bridget and Mary Jane (born 7 months after her fathers death). Does anyone have any knowledge or relationship with Michael? I would love to expand this side of the tree. As you all know the problems with common names this is a side I have not followed through with, especially as anyone who had any knowledge has long passed away. Many thanks in advance Maria Thomas Lake Munmorah NSW, Australia
Hello Everyone, This is to let everyone know of a useful site available for Australian researchers. The site is OzGen and holds the Australian Surnames Forum which allows uers to post their genealogical surname interests for every state in Australia, including New South Wales. It also holds the Church Photo Project (with photos of NSW churches already posted), with the aim of getting photos of every church in Australia and also has useful genealogical information for each state in Australia. The website is: http://www.oz-gen.com Kindest Regards, Chani Webmaster, oz-gen.com
Hi again My great-grandmother, also Evangeline ROSKELL (nee CONNOR) m 1943 to a Richard COE in Lismore. Apparently they were old sweethearts when they were young down in the Monaro region. They linked up again after their respective partner's deaths. Can anyone expand the COE line? Maria Thomas Lake Munmorah NSW, Australia
Hi everyone I am new to this list and would like to make contact with anyone else who has these families. Hope I'm on the right list. My grandparents Evangeline ROSKELL and Thomas WHITE married in Lismore in 1919. The witnesses to the marriage were Clare ROSKELL, Evangeline's sister and J.M.WOODS (Male - from a wedding photo). Is anyone related to J.M.WOODS or know who this person would be in the Lismore area in 1919? Maria Thomas Lake Munmorah NSW, Australia
Change of address - second advice If you haven't already, please change my email address to: maecies@bigpond.net.au Thanks Graeme Hudson
Did you know that the Berry & District Historical Societies Linked Family History Programme contains almost as many north coast families as it does Shoalhaven and Illawarra names. A great many branches of Shoalhaven and Illawarra families moved north and became some of your early settlers. Berry will be takeing their computer and programme to the Shoalhaven Cultural, Family and History Fair this Friday 25th June 10am -6pm and Saturday 26th June 10am - 3pm. This message is intended for anyone who may have missed my earlier message or for anyone who may wish to submit Family Fact sheets instead of using the form. My aim is to compile a register of all pioneering families born in the Bellinger area up to 1915. The register will be compiled by myself using genealogical information submitted by family members and researchers, in an effort to create a publication that can be used for years to come by genealogists, historians and in general, the local community. Those who would like to contribute are asked to either, use the form that is supplied [please email me for form] or submit Family Fact Sheets, which include sources, produced by programs like Family Tree Maker. [Please note: Fact sheets like that produced by Familysearch [LDS] PAF are not acceptable as they tend to abbreviate place names and can be a nightmare to decipher]. You may include full birth dates of person's born after 1915 if they are deceased but because of NSW Privacy Laws I cannot publish dates of birth after 1915 without the written permission of the person involved. Include pioneers born, wed, or who died in the Bellinger area, including Dorrigo area. Although Dorrigo is not essentially part of the Valley as it lies at the top of the plateau, it is an integral part of the Bellinger's pioneering days. Some of the names of the areas included in the Bellinger area are as follows; Bellinger Heads - now Urunga, Boat Harbour - now Bellingen, Brierfield, Darkwood, Dorrigo, Fernmount, Hydes Creek, Gleniffer, Kalang, Marx Hill, Mylestrom - North Beach, Never Never - now Thora, Raliegh, Repton, Valery etc. Regards Annette Mills 2004
