This family appears a hard nut to crack. I have a William Whackett, (Wackett), born 1868 in Armidale, died 1917, marrying Adela AF Adams in Uralla 1900. William's parents were Thomas and Amelia BOND. They married 1863 in Armidale. Thomas died 1901 at Armidale and Amelia died 1932, aged 85. It appears Thomas and Amelia had 6 children under the name of Wackett, and 3 under the name of Whackett. Adela then married Duncan Cameron in 1900 at Uralla. I have a photo of Duncan and Adela on their wedding day which is featured in "Brandscheid's Vine" but the caption underneath the photo states "Duncan Cameron and Sarah Cameron (nee Whackett) 1900", which makes it very confusing! As for George, he may have married Jane Chapman both in Armidale (660/1903) and again in Ballina (689/1903), under the name of Whackett. I'd love someone to fill in the gaps. Cheers, Pauline

The WHACKETT I am interested in was born George Keith 1901 , Uralla , eldest child of Thomas & Ada WHACKETT nee ADAMS He married Enid May FOWLER 1931 in Armidale I suspect he changed his surname possibly soon after he married ??. Her brother was involved in something abit shonky . I havent been able to find out what yet . But I do know he certainly changed his whole name c 1929/30 and moved to Qld c 1931 Enids mother Vera May LANE late FOWLER, nee HITTMAN died in Armidale 28 Apr 1932 Her 2nd husband was a Henry LANE , who had a bakers shop in Armidale.
