Hello List I am a new member and this is my first posting. The names I am interested in from this area are CROTHERS & BOUVENG. In particular, at the moment, I am trying to locate a couple of places which I believe may be in the Tamworth area. In 1874 an Alicia Crothers who was 3 years and 6 months old, died at "Ware Devil" and she was buried at Black Creek. Her mother, Jane Crothers nee Downey, registered her death at Tamworth. In 1873, Jane's husband, William, had died at a young age at Merriwa and left Jane with three children. The family had been living at Llangollen, Cassilis but I am assuming that after the father died they may have lived with relations possibly in the Tamworth area. Jane later married William Rowland at Murrurundi in 1879. This was where her family, the Downeys, came from. Does anyone know of any Crothers in the area at that time and does anyone know of Black Creek and/or Ware Devil. I obtained the "Ware Devil" from a transcription agent and I am beginning to wonder if the name was transcribed correctly. Vicki
