Hi all, I am looking for any information or photos about my ancestor Edward Patrick Dwyer; he was married to Ellen Kearney and had 11 children, one of whom died - Joanna, Edward, Mary, Michael, Elizabeth, Ellen, Johanna, Bridget, William, Florence and Frances. He was poundkeeper at Uralla, when Thunderbolt was shot. He brought Thunderbolt's body into Uralla on a spring cart. He also gave an epitah at the funeral. I know he was featured in the Armidale express newspaper in the 1970's. Does anyone know where I could access this information, or obtain a copy? Any other information would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Bettina
Hi Bettina, I have Dwyer's in my family and I will list the info briefly and hope there is a connection. ANASTASIA DWYER (Annie, or Ann) was born to Patrick Dwyer and Mary ?? in Ireland abt 1847. On arrival in Aust with her parents she married my great grandfather, William Keating born Tipperary Ireland, Annie was his 2nd wife. Annie died in Euroa 1900 aged just 53, William died in Rutherglen 1907, their daughter Julia Keating is my grandmother. We also have a Michael Dwyer in our family tree and wonder if he was Annie's brother, also wondering if your Edward Patrick Dwyer is connected, they all lived around Uralla and the naming pattern is the same as our family, ELLEN, MICHAEL, WILLIAM, JOANNA, ELIZABETH, MARY AND BRIDGET, these are also common KEATING names. Further down the line, Julia Keating (Annie's daughter) married Charles George Gordon in Albury/Wodonga and they moved to NSW and lived in Camden, my grandfather was the manager of the orchards at Camden Park Estate (Macarthur Onslow) and they had 2 children, Irene Therese Gordon (my Mum, still living aged 82) and my Uncle William (Bill) Gordon, he is also still living and lives in Vic.
