    3. Thank you Marg for sending us your favourite websites. I checked out each one and could you believe that I think I found my husband's gggg grandfather on the medical pioneers listing. I knew that he was a doctor, and noticed it written on his headstone in Campbell Hill Cemetery, Maitland when we were fossicking about there. Dr William EVANS was born abt 1779 at Monmouthshire, Wales and died 30.7.1860 at "Bellvue" , East Maitland. He married in 1809 in London to Mary Anne KIRK and their first child Evan William EVANS was born 1811 at Newcastle, NSW This was about all I knew up until now. The website http://www.medicalpioneers.com/ states that William was a ship's surgeon on many convict ships: He first arrived in 1809 on the "Indespensable". Further trips on "Sir William Bensley", "Bencoolen", "Hindostan", "Asia II", "Sir Godfrey Webster", "Layton I", "Lady of the Lake", "Larkins", "Southworth" and "Earl Grey". His wife arrived in Australia in 1810, they settled in Newcastle in 1811, and he retired in 1822 So it sort of all fits. Does anyone have any further information that they could add to any of this? If so, I would appreciate it very much, many thanks Jo ----- Original Message ----- From: "MargM" <genknut@optusnet.com.au> To: <AUS-NSW-NEW-ENGLAND-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: 16 January, 2006 3:01 AM Subject: [NE] Interesting web sites > These are just a few from my favourites >
