Hello listers, I have just found that my gold miner GGGF, John SAUNDERS, left Sofala and settled in or near Inverell around 1870. John was widowed while living in Wattle Flat near Sofala in 1861 and was left to care for 3 children aged, 5,4 and 2. They were John, Enos and Louisa. He remarried Ellen WHITE in 1863 and had three more children while still living in Sofala, Johanna SAUNDERS b.1863., Agnes SAUNDERS b.1864, and William SAUNDERS b.1866. Agnes went on to marry Arthur J PARKER in Tamworth in1887 and they had 4 children that I know of, Elsie, Muriel, Ellen and Baden. Three more children were born to John and his wife Ellen while they were in or near Inverell, Emily SAUNDERS b.1874 (died at birth), Alfred Thomas SAUNDERS b. 1879 and Eva Ellen SAUNDERS, b.1882., d.1884. Soon after they must have moved to Tamworth or Nundle because Ellen died in 1890 and I think she is buried in Nundle cemetery and John died in 1911 and I presume he would be buried with her. Does any of this story ring a bell with anyone? Any clues would be a great help. Thanks...Carole Sim
