Dear Joy Just in case ... I have had names that were a little bit out at times so thought I'd mention that my wife was from Glen Innes and there was a family of ESHMAN living there (not Ashman). This was around the 1940s. Stewart (Pod) Eshman was a postman in Glen Innes (he came from Inverell) and married Rene Claffey, who was from Glen Innes. If this is a help, we may have a few more memories or perhaps directories may help, particularly if the name was wrong. I was looking for LOGUE in my wife's line and there was no record in the old fiche although she was certain of details of a marriage. It was just because the names were so close that I noticed it registered and recorded as LOGIE. Good luck.
