    3. Hello Joanne and List Here's some information on the property Winscombe from "Bundarra - Stepping Stone of the Gwydir" "In 1843, Arthur Darby, who was desirous of finding squattage near "Tiengah" the home of his brother Sydney, bought "Winscombe". George Gregory was still living on the property and owned some of the cattle which he had acquired by the "thirds" system of payment for stock agistment." "Winscombe" was another property which changed hands during this period of financial difficulty. In 1891 James Martindale Bettington, who had purchased the lease from Arthur Darby six years previously, sold it to Charles Britton..." From what I understand the whole of "Bundarrah" (179,000 acres) was once one station. It was then split into Clerkness (104,000 acres) and Newstead. Around 1847 Clerkness was then split again into Clerkness, Winscombe and Stoney Creek [owned by my Kelly family]. Another portion, Longreach was also leased to Francis Whalley further reducing it. When the town of Bundarra was surveyed, the part of Clerkness that fell within the two mile limit was lost also. Some time ago on the list there was a message about isolated station graves in the Inverell district. Some body was collecting the data. If you look through the list archives you may find reference to it. Hope this is of some help. 2. Charlotte Broun
    3. Forgot to mention From an old map of the area, Winscombe was situated on Rocky River, not far south of the town of Bundarra.
