Hi, Hope you all had a great Christmas. I am trying to decipher some bad handwriting. Would someone please be able to tell me if what looks like 'Booloorina' or maybe its 'Booroorina' (or similar) via Inverell, is the name of an area/town, or is it more likely to be the name of a property? Apparently the WRIGHT family were living there around 1917, and I'm trying to find out if they have any connection to the WHITBY's who moved to the New England area from Eden. Thank you Allie _________________________________________________________________ Be one of the first to try Windows Live Mail. http://ideas.live.com/programpage.aspx?versionId=5d21c51a-b161-4314-9b0e-4911fb2b2e6d
The Wright family owned substantial land holdings around Armidale. One brother owned the property Booloominbah. Part of this property, including the homestead was given (I think) to the University of New England (UNE) and this is where the University is not situated on. The UNE is located on the western edge of Armidale, about 130kms south east of Inverell It is possible that the Whitby's worked for the Wright's, but I don't really know much about either family. I hope this helps Wayne Hoppe -----Original Message----- From: aus-nsw-new-england-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-nsw-new-england-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Allie R Sent: Friday, 29 December 2006 4:22 PM To: aus-nsw-new-england@rootsweb.com Subject: [NE] WRIGHT at Booloorina via Inverell Hi, Hope you all had a great Christmas. Allie, Noticed your reference to the name WHITBY. In you data bank do you have a WHITBY marrying a SIEVERS at Cassilis Station in Jan 1872.
