Hi Folks, Just to let you know my Surnames of Interest in this area ... Bernard NAUGHTEN and Mary / Maria HUNT came from Strokestown, Co Roscommon, IRE, in 1840 on the ship Crusader. They spent some time in Grafton before moving to Armidale c. 1856. Bernard NAUGHTEN (although illiterate) was twice mayor of Armidale. He was also the licensee of the Royal Hotel in Armidale. Bernard's daughter, Margaret, married John MURRAY in Grafton. John was a probationary convict. The MURRAY's also moved to Armidale with John later also becoming the publican at the Royal. After the deaths of Bernard and Mary NAUGHTEN in 1876, and John & Margaret MURRAY in 1875 and 1877, the family split up with most of my branch on the MURRAYs ending up in Maitland, Singleton and numerous other areas of NSW! I'd be pleased to hear from anyone with connections .......... Susie Z
