    3. Hi Alan, It was lovely to read all about Ollera Station. One of my husband's ancestors was born there on 24 March 1860, Elizabeth Alice MATLEY, daughter of John Mellor MATLEY and Ann CLOUGH. She was their first Australian born child. John, Ann and their first four children arrived in Australia from Lancashire in 1856. Ann's brother Ralph CLOUGH, his wife Jane HULLEY, and their family, followed later. Elizabeth married George HOGBIN, a blacksmith, who according to family tradition, used to shoe Thunderbolt's horse backwards. John Mellor MATLEY in later life was one of the original Salvation Army people in the Inverell area. The name is said to derive from the brother's Aboriginal guide who, when they first neared what the Everetts named George's Creek, after their oldest brother, said: 'See 'im Ollera", meaning 'Look! sweet water'. ........
