    3. In the 1960's my uncle had to do with the City of Lights Festival. From memory, Tamworth was the 1st town to have lighting, either gas or electricity, and also a sister city in the USA. Can anyone help me out here please. Thanks Cheryle

    3. On November 9, 1888 Tamworth became the first town in the southern hemisphere to have its streets lit by a power plant owned by the municipal council. Currently Tamworth has sister city relations with Tamworth, England: Gore, New Zealand, Sannohe, Japan; Chaoyang, China and Dekalb in the USA.
