    1. John WALSH and Catherine BRUEN-Armidalt to Glen Innes
    2. Leonie Oliver
    3. Hello all I am trying to determine whether the above couple who married in Armidale in 1857 is part of my VERY large WALSH family. Their children were born in Armidale, then one in Wellingrove, then the rest in Glen Innes. I have been searching for a John WALSH, born in Limerick, Ireland in 1836 to James Walsh and Ellen Bridgman. Ellen died soon after John's birth and James remarried to Johanna Fahey. The whole family arrived in Sydney in 1841. If anyone can give me any information about the John who married Catherine Bruen, I would appreciate it, if only to rule him out and save me buying yet more wrong certificates. (Many of the ones from Armidale don't have parents' names on them either). Many thanks Leonie Oliver

    2. Glynis Turner
    3. Albert had a soldier settlers block in Long Plain Inverell. And was our neighbour. He certainly was photographed with Stephen WALLS. This appeared in the Inverell Times newspaper and possibly a lot of other newspapers. Not certain that he was the particular searcher that found the boy. After his death in 1970 his wife LUCY (McPhee) retired to Inverell. Descendants still live in Inverell. He was born in Glen Innes in 1905 Two other Tickles born in Glen Innes served in WW2 according to the national Archives http://www.naa.gov.au/the_collection/recordsearch.html Happy hunting Glynis ----- Original Message ----- From: "Frank Cardiff" <cardiff@hotkey.net.au> To: <AUS-NSW-NEW-ENGLAND-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, November 19, 2005 12:02 PM Subject: Re: AUS-NSW-NEW-ENGLAND-D Digest V05 #196 > Re: Tickle Family > > This may Tickle your memory. > My wife was from Glen Innes and remembers that it was Albert Tickle (from > there) who found Stephen Waugh in Uralla. 3. Hi Frank and list, I just wanted to correct a couple of minor inaccuracies in you previous message. The "little boy lost" was Stephen Wall, not Waugh and he was lost at Guyra not Uralla. Actually he was lost in bush about 30 Km north east of Guyra towards Wandsworth. Stephen, when last I saw him, was a shearer in the Guyra district. You are correct in saying that it was Albert Tickle, along with a group of 4 or 5 other that found Stephen. I was also there but with another part of the search party. Cheers, John Caling Canberra ----- Original Message ----- From: "Frank Cardiff" <cardiff@hotkey.net.au> To: <AUS-NSW-NEW-ENGLAND-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, November 19, 2005 12:02 PM Subject: [NE] Re: AUS-NSW-NEW-ENGLAND-D Digest V05 #196 > Re: Tickle Family > > This may Tickle your memory. > My wife was from Glen Innes and remembers that it was Albert Tickle (from > there) who found Stephen Waugh in Uralla. He became famous as the "Little Boy Lost" Albert married Margaret McPhee from Glen Innes. John Tickle (brother) married Joan McClifty in Glen Innes and they had two children. Tickle (including a photo) is mentioned in The Beardies Heritage and no doubt copies would be in your local library.
