    3. Hi everyone, I'm just wondering if this is the correct list for the Grafton area please? I'm looking for any info about the descendants of William Edward VINCENT and his wife Anne Sophia. This is a little about his occupation in Grafton. I'd like to find out about his descendants. snip>>> In June 1859 he established a weekly newspaper, the Clarence and Richmond Examiner , in Grafton, northern New South Wales. As in Wellington (NZ) he sought to support the commercial community rather than the pastoralists, but his principal backer disapproved and early in 1861 the Examiner was sold off. A few months later Vincent began the Clarence and Richmond Independent , which was barely established when he died at Grafton on 22 November 1861. His two eldest sons, Henry (aged 14) and Frank (nearly 12), continued the paper, the first of many Vincent-owned newspapers in the district.<<< If anyone has news, obits etc about Henry, Frank or others with the surname Vincent, I'll love to hear from you.I'm doing this research for a friend, her g/g/g.m was Anne Sophia VINCENT. Many thanks and ,-._|\ best wishes, / Oz \ jill , brisbane. \_,--.x/ jmglover@tpg.com.au v

I think there may also be a few burial sites at St Lukes Anglican Church in Liverpool but not sure. Hope this helps a bit. 3. Hello Joy There is a place named Strathbogie near Emmaville. Have a look at the following site for detailed parish maps of old. Type in the search box 'Strathbogie' for both Parish and Pastoral searches: http://www.lands.nsw.gov.au/OnlineServices/ParishMaps/default.htm Do you have more details on John McCarthy please as there are a number of McCarthy's listed in the Glen Innes Cemetery Book. 1. Strathbogie Station
    2. Joy Moloney
    3. I have queries regarding Strathbogie Station:- a] Where exactly was Strathbogie Station? b] Is there a history of the station listing owners and workers? c] There used to be a graveyard there which had disappeared by ca.1995. Would anyone have a list of the names buried there? I am trying to find the death of John MCCARTHY who emigrated from C. Cork in 1838 aboard the Calcutta with his wife and 3 children. We know that he went to work as a shepherd on Strathbogie station and then he disappears. The McCarthy's still had some sort of relationship with Strathbogie up until the 1890's -early 1900's [I think]. I would be very grateful for any advice/help. Cheers Joy [nee McCarthy]

    3. Thank You Judy, I knew the list would have someone with great knowledge on medical matters. Dr Oram was the signatory on my great great grandmother's death certificate in 1886. She was not one of his most successful outcomes as she was only 37 years old. This makes me wonder what lead her to travel from Emmaville to Sydney to be treated by him and , more importantly, who paid for it as my folks were not flush with funds. AS always the list answers one question ..... but leads to quite a few more! Again THANK YOU for your prompt and knowledgable response. 3. Hi Naomi, (1) Bachelor of Medicine; (2) probably Master of Surgery (should be Ch.M.- from Chirurgiae Magister. Usually a bachelor degree Ch.B is done at the same time as the MB, in Australia it's usually called MB,BS); (3) Doctor of Medicine. Medical training has existed at the University of Edinburgh for several hundred years and is very highly regarded world-wide. Don't know about details in those days but probably similar to more recent times with several years of university study (5 or 6 years?) beginning with pre-clinical studies and then combined with clinical practice in the later years. Someone else might know if there was also a period of full time hospital internship after graduation. Your Dr Oram has excellent qualifications! 3. Hello Gary Thank you for taking the time to send that info down the line to me. What I basically need to establish at this stage is where George Sellick was born, and if it was in Australia where was his father born? My main interest is in the Sellek/Sellick line which comes from Colaton Raleigh in Devon, UK. The info you have provided is more than shows on the on-line indexes so I assume you have access to the NSW BDM fiche? If this is the case could you have look at the marriage details for George please? There are 2 entries for 1860 no 2742 m. Mary Elizabeth Rule and No 2743 m. Amy Elizabeth rule and his surname i s spelt Sellic Bye for now Marcia Penny > George: Died, 2 Jul 1910 and was buried in Glen Innes, 4 Jul 1910 in > the Anglican section, Aged 81. Last address: Glen Innes.
