Hi Dianne, I have a MURCHIE married into my SUTHERLAND family, but on looking further, this doesn't seem to connect to your man. I found the following on the NSW BDM site which looks like him: 12633/1939 MURCHIE ARCHIBALD GEORGE Father ALICK DAVID Mother MARGARET CATHCART Died at WAVERLEY At least it is a bit more for you. Good afternoon, Several newbies in the last few days introduced themselves ...... I should do the same as I was a subscriber to the list years ago and dropped out for a time when I was overseas and didn't get around to resubscribing. I've just joined the list so hello to everyone. I've started researching my family history this year and I have found that many branches pop up in the New England area - Inverell, Warialda, Bingara and Tamworth, and then south west to Gilgandra and Coonamble. The names I'm researching in New England are Thomas Hawkins and Mary Frances Louisa Malone. They married in Gineroi in 1882. No parents' names on the marriage certificate unfortunately. I have found a fair bit of information on Mary but nothing concrete on Thomas. There were 10 or so Thomas Hawkins's born in NSW in the 1850's (2 of them in Singleton in 1859) so I'm a bit lost. I'm coming up to Inverell next week so if anyone can give me a hint on where to look I'd appreciate it. I intend to join the Inverell Genealogical Society while I'm there and have a look through their things. Cheers Robyn Horan Sydney

Hello everyone! Thanks for the huge help from at least 6 people so instantly. I went to have a shower (yes, I did a lot of work in my PJs this morning!) and had so many answers when I came back. Please accept this as my personal thanks for your trouble. The site looks very good. Lynette Lynette Begg P.O. Hi list, Am reposting my family interests for the benefit of any new listers. I'm researching Emmanuel Slade CLEAL who was born in England in 1842 to James CLEAL and Judith SLADE. He married Johanna MCIVOR in Inverell in 1866. Johanna was born in Rosshire, Scotland, to Angus MCIVOR and Christina MCLEOD. Emmanuel and Johanna's children were all born in the Inverell area. They were: Emily Ellen b. 1866 married Robert MCKAY Kenneth b. 1868 married Ella Leason ROSE Christina b. 1870 married John Robert GRAHAM Frank b. 1872 married Jessie PRITCHARD Flora b. 1874 married John KEOUGH Catherine b. 1876 married Daniel Edward O'NEILL Emanuel b. 1879 married Margaret DOYLE Frederick b. 1881 very little known about Frederick. Donald b. 1884 died at Callan Park Mental Institution. Johanna b. 1885 born a month before her mother's death. Have been unable to find any information on this child. Although I've gathered quite a bit of info on most of the above I still have a few gaps and am always looking for anecdotal information, family stories, etc. Cheers, Di

Hi I saw earlier emails referring to Olive LEADER nee MOORE. Olive is my Great Aunt. I have very little information on her spouse Arthur LEADER and none at all on their children. However in an obituary for Olive's father George MOORE in 1925 it says that Olive and Arthur were living at "Mandoic" and in 1943 when her mother Emily MOORE nee BURTENSHAW died her obituary says that they were living at "Warialda Rd Inverell". Olive was born in 1890 in Inverell, and married Arthur in 1913 in Inverell. If any one has any further information on Olive and Arthur LEADER I would love to add it to my family tree. Thankyou.. Regards, Dianne
Greetings from the "Coral Sea Coast" (Lat 17.5s Long 146.1e) Hi to All, Just to report that the reponses to my message re the TICKLE family of Dungog have been very fruitful. The descendants that I have recorded for John and Ann TICKLE nee Cole now number some 350, and counting. One negative that I have been able to establish is that the manuscript held at the Newcastle library and entitled, "History of James and Matilda Tickle, their family and activities" compiled and edited by Mollie Young 1986, DOES NOT refer to the family of that name that I am investigating. James and Matilda Tickle are not part a of this family. I am still anxious to obtain any anecdotal information and photographs (or scans) of the original Dungog family. Best wishes, Dean And may your opportunities be taken Dean Newman, North Queensland Australia. "As time goes by" kenyon@znet.net.au "Old Deans never die - they just lose their faculties"
