    1. [NE] Stannifer Public School
    2. Dear Listers, I am posting this in the hope that someone may be able to help me. My mother, maiden name,Mary Edith Smith was the youngest child of Richard and Annie(nee Byrne) was born at Tingha NSW in 1906.Information that I have leads me to believe that she attended Stannifer Public School and seeing as she was born in 1906 I would think that she started there around 1911/12. What I am looking for is anything relating to this school from around that time such as pupil lists or photos of pupils or anything that relates to the shool from this time.I have been in touch with NSW Education Dept.and they have nothing that can help me,so I am hoping that there may be a lister who has some amoungst there family history even something that refers to this Smith family from Tingha. Heres hoping, Lloyd Carson

    2. fay butler
    3. I have been reading some old posts regarding Tenterfield Germans.I am a member of the Tenterfield Family History Group & Tenterfield Historical Society & have come across a lot of German names in Tenterfield.I don't know of any Lutheran Church in Tenterfield, but a great deal of German families were Catholic or became Catholic after they arrived, it also depended on the religion of the spouse especially for the first generation born in Australia. They often changed their religion to whatever their future spouse was. I decided to write down as many German surnames as I could think of, including my own family names Brauer,Kasten,Bender,KIumm. I am sure there are a lot more but these are all I can think of at the moment........ Imberger,Sommerlad,Senf,Struck,Eggert,Bloch,Soper,Hurtz,Koch, Kraut,Blaker,Bergin,Kyburtz,Lohse,Kayser,Hartmann,Jaegar,Juergens, Schiffmann,Heiss,Kneipp,Schroder,Roos,Hass,Petrie,Vock,Beihoff, Ebert,Kuskey,Geihe,Rebora,Berger,Leis,Schultz,Pieper. I also have a great deal of German family names in Toowoomba Qld they are..... Bleich,Zupp,Volker,Bischoff,Weber,Reithmuller,Muller,Kummerow, Hermann,Lebsauft,Steinmuller,Volkmann,Boehl,Henneberg,Zunker, Goltz,Lietz,Naske,Dorfeldt,Vohland. Fay Butler

    1. [AUS-NSW-NEW-ENGLAND] Mailing list format has changed
    2. MargM
    3. Dear Listers There are quite a few changes to get used to No one can subscribed twice to the List under a single email address. If you wish to subscribe to the List in both Mail mode and in Digest mode you will need to use two separate email addresses - one for each mode. So suggest for a simple life just subscribe to one of these They are the same messages, just a different format The message posting mode will no longer need the "L" in the address for posting mail to the list. So address for posting/replying will in future be LISTNAME@rootsweb.com A major change is the "subscribe" and "unsubscribe" commands . These now must be in the subject header Digest format will be a little different. AOL subscribers will receive a Zip file of messages but this is down to AOL rather than Rootsweb, as I understand it. The very best bit is the changes to the way in which bounced mailings are handled by the system. Up to now as Admin I have often received deluges of bounced mail . This will no longer be the case and I will be unaware of a problem until the system disables your list account due to the bounces. This is often caused by a subscriber changing their email address and they forget to unsubscribe from the old address or having a full mail box Be interesting to see how these differences pan out Happy Hunting MargM List Admin Sydney, New England, Hunter Valley, Central Coast , Australia Aus-Usa lists
