    1. [NE] Veitch - Thomas Maxwell
    2. Grayeme & Lynne Bone
    3. My gggrandfather James Maxwell, wife Janet and family arrived per "Java" in April 1853. On the shipping lists it was stated that James had ....."a brother Thos Maxwell living at New England in the employ of Mr Veitch" I so far cannot "find" Thomas Maxwell - there being no deaths in NSW of a Thomas Maxwell with the same parents listed as James Maxwell - so it is now down to purchasing death certs of various Thomas Maxwell's until I find a candidate likely to be ours. I was wondering if anybody has come across a Mr Veitch in the New England area. A search of Veitch at BDM's online give most of the entries in Sydney, Parramatta, Broullee, Queenbeyan etc and none in the New England area Hoping someone can help. I have been given a copy of a photo of my late grandmother and the photographer's mark/embossing is partially obscured, but I think it could be 'DEVINE' or 'DEVLIN'. 3. Catherine I have a copy of "The Mechanical Eye" and have located the following: R. S. Millington & Son - Byron Street, Inverell, NSW 1875 (Several entries appear for a 'Robert S Millington & Son' from 1856 - 1867 inc. Windsor, Wilberforce and Nepean, NSW - also, 'Travelling photographer' during this period. In 1868 'Millington & Metcalfe' worked in the Muswellbrook and Armidale areas; again, 'travelling photographers', but I don't know if this is the same person as 'R S Millington'.) George A Solomon - Glen Innes, NSW 1889 - 90 George A Solomon - Opp. Caledonian Hotel, Tamworth, NSW 1892 - 1900 Nothing listed at all for Cumming & McCall (or McCall & Cumming). Hope this helps. 3. Dear Listers For near on the past 2 1/2 weeks Rootsweb has been changing over its thousands of mailing lists to Mailman software. For digest subscribers this can do with a little tweaking to make it more user friendly. I can change the format of your subscription to Mime from plain text . This results in you receiving digests of messages in a very similar format as before This applies to subscribers who get blocks/digests of messages NOT those who take single message So if you want to be tweaked .......... just send me a please tweak me email ! I have been emailed some photos for identifcation with little information to go on. The photographers from photos that look like they are from the 1860's were R.S.Millington Inverell and Cumming& McCall. 3. Hi Lloyd, State Records of NSW has an Administrative File on Stannifer School 1906-1939 [file no. 5/17677.1]. They didn't have to keep school enrolment lists and there is not usually much info on pupils or their courses of study in these files, or photos, but it might be worth following up for any background on the history of the school at that time. Check out www.records.nsw.gov/au. Go to S for Schools in the A-Z Index and follow the links from there. HTH Judy.
