Hi Caroline, I read Helen Woodward's reply to your enquiry and the name Fing struck a cord, but I don't know if there is a connection. My research on the Old cemetery in Warialda records:- FING, Margaret Clara Father:James, Mother:Sarah BERRIDGE Died:16/12/1898 Aged between 3 and 8 months, Death Registered 1898/3636. Parents Married: 1895 Moree. Siblings: 1895 James, 1896 Vincent, 1889 Elfreda, 1902 Austin, 1904 John. I can't recall where or how I became aware James Sruhan was a Police Officer..... and the fact that I can't remember annoyes me!!! But I have had a look through some info tonight and I found something that may or may not help you. In a booklet by Mervyn Williamson called "Warialda Pioneer Families" page 5 has an entry which reads..." In 1850, William Geddes saw Mr Walker and his band of Native Police pass through Warialda. They were from South Australia and were completing a 1,000mile trek in drought conditions, through Fort Bourke to Calladoon in Queensland. They arrived 'with scarcely a sole to their shoes.'" Do you have James Sruhans marriage or death certificates? Hi Joy and Wayne Don't forget to look at Inverell Station records at UNE as well in 1880 Edmund Body married Catherine Campbell of Inverell Station at one point management of Strathbogie and Inverell Stations were interconnected Some of Edmund Body's holdings are still managed by his ggrandson together with part of Inverell Station. (son of Susan Campbell Body who married Ian Simpson in 1953) Also consider the research available at Glen Innes http://www.beardieshistoryhouse.info/ They have lots of information and an amazing card file on residents mentioned in newspapers etc covering the larger Glen Innes area including Emmaville and probably Strathbogie Also info on the extent of the different stations in the district. Hello to all I am seeking information about one Donald BURNS. His date and place of birth and death are unknown to me at this stage. He married Ada Jane Pallot (1875 - 1903) at Yarrawonga, Vic, in 1897. They had two daughters, Margaret (1898) and Jessie (1902), both at Nyngan. He remarried to Antoinetta Bryant in 1907 at Nyngan. I suspect they had a son, Donald, who died in 1921. If anyone can flesh out Donald Snr's details or the family I would be most grateful. Any local history society contacts in Nyngan also sought. Thanking you in advance Greg Palmer Wollongong, NSW, Australia Ph 02 4284 1919
