Dear Joy Just in case ... I have had names that were a little bit out at times so thought I'd mention that my wife was from Glen Innes and there was a family of ESHMAN living there (not Ashman). This was around the 1940s. Stewart (Pod) Eshman was a postman in Glen Innes (he came from Inverell) and married Rene Claffey, who was from Glen Innes. If this is a help, we may have a few more memories or perhaps directories may help, particularly if the name was wrong. I was looking for LOGUE in my wife's line and there was no record in the old fiche although she was certain of details of a marriage. It was just because the names were so close that I noticed it registered and recorded as LOGIE. Good luck. have received three replies from people searching the Senior, Seinor tree. they all say that William and a George P are sons of Samuel and Margaret. how to find Margaret's maiden name? one says Ross another says Arundel. Also is the Samuel who is married to Margaret Arndell, Samuel 2 or 3 I notice a twelve year gap in the BDM for births. as well a Margaret Senior dies in 1879 but at ST LEONARDS. this appears a long way for a mother with a two year old child. extra maybes are that George Playle Seinor marries 1889 William marries 1888 both at Inverell with Samuel no? marrying at Glen Innes in 1887 I now Know why researches get grey or no hair. thanks ralph

I am looking for information on Anthony William HOLTON who was born in about 1849 or 1850. According to his death certificate he was born in Saumarez, but that may be incorrect. He may have been born in the Hunter Valley. No parents are listed on his death certificate. I cannot find his birth on the NSW BDM site. His occupation was saddler, and he married Elizabeth FOLLINGTON at Surat in Queensland, and had children -Innis, Livingstone, Albert, Percy, Ethel, Phoebe and 2 females who were deceased before 1918. When Anthony HOLTON died in 1918, he was living in or near Armidale, as he died at Armidale Hospital. His son, Albert lived at Tamworth, and that is where Anthony was buried. If there are any descendants out there, I would love to hear from them, or if anyone knows anything about Anthony HOLTON, or how I can locate record of his birth, I would really appreciate it. Many thanks, Ally McRae
"Buirendi" would be "Burindi". If anyone on the list is interested I have a copy of an article on the Darby family of "The Grove" which I can email. Hello listers, I have just found that my gold miner GGGF, John SAUNDERS, left Sofala and settled in or near Inverell around 1870. John was widowed while living in Wattle Flat near Sofala in 1861 and was left to care for 3 children aged, 5,4 and 2. They were John, Enos and Louisa. He remarried Ellen WHITE in 1863 and had three more children while still living in Sofala, Johanna SAUNDERS b.1863., Agnes SAUNDERS b.1864, and William SAUNDERS b.1866. Agnes went on to marry Arthur J PARKER in Tamworth in1887 and they had 4 children that I know of, Elsie, Muriel, Ellen and Baden. Three more children were born to John and his wife Ellen while they were in or near Inverell, Emily SAUNDERS b.1874 (died at birth), Alfred Thomas SAUNDERS b. 1879 and Eva Ellen SAUNDERS, b.1882., d.1884. Soon after they must have moved to Tamworth or Nundle because Ellen died in 1890 and I think she is buried in Nundle cemetery and John died in 1911 and I presume he would be buried with her. Does any of this story ring a bell with anyone? Any clues would be a great help. Thanks...Carole Sim
Hi, In 1856, A. Darby was the lessee or tenant of "Wanscombe" (sic) which was 22,840 acres, the annual rent was £12 10 shillings; the assessment was £37.10.0; the present tenure commenced 1 Jan 1852 and the term was till 31 Dec 1865; the appraised rent was £260 . The NSW Squatting Directory records of 1875, records Arthur S. Darby of 'Buirendi' Liverpool Plains as having rent of £88.0.0. Htioi Terry
Can anyone help me to locate a burial record or transcription from the Nundle cemetery for John SAUNDERS, died 1911 and his wife Ellen, died 1890? Hello Joanne and List Here's some information on the property Winscombe from "Bundarra - Stepping Stone of the Gwydir" "In 1843, Arthur Darby, who was desirous of finding squattage near "Tiengah" the home of his brother Sydney, bought "Winscombe". George Gregory was still living on the property and owned some of the cattle which he had acquired by the "thirds" system of payment for stock agistment." "Winscombe" was another property which changed hands during this period of financial difficulty. In 1891 James Martindale Bettington, who had purchased the lease from Arthur Darby six years previously, sold it to Charles Britton..." From what I understand the whole of "Bundarrah" (179,000 acres) was once one station. It was then split into Clerkness (104,000 acres) and Newstead. Around 1847 Clerkness was then split again into Clerkness, Winscombe and Stoney Creek [owned by my Kelly family]. Another portion, Longreach was also leased to Francis Whalley further reducing it. When the town of Bundarra was surveyed, the part of Clerkness that fell within the two mile limit was lost also. Some time ago on the list there was a message about isolated station graves in the Inverell district. Some body was collecting the data. If you look through the list archives you may find reference to it. Hope this is of some help. I am looking for any information on the family of George Edward Hill & Mary Jane Campbell. They married 1882 at Inverell, they later moved to the Hunter region, their children were George, Frances, James, Mary, Henry, Sarah, Ernest & Albert, if anyone out there knows anything of this family I would like to hear from you. I have one person that I am told is the son of but his birth does not appear in the NSW BDM internet lists or in the Latter day Saints CDs. His name is William Seinor (or Senior )born about 1868 district may be Warialda. He married a Harriette Hunter 1888 at Glen Innes. How do you check this information for his birth.
Dear Listers I haven't posted this site for quite a while . Thought it about time to do so just to remind you all that there are location errors in the NSW BDMs http://members.ozemail.com.au/~johngrah/nswbdmer.htm You might discount a birth ref allegedly registered in Bowerville when you know the family lived at Braidwood In 1886 200 Kiama births appear as registered in Katoomba So dont take as gospel every thing in print
