Hi Everyone My ancestor John McCarthy arrived in Australia in 1838 on ship Calcutta with wife Ellen and three children - Edward, Ellen & Eliza. He went to work as a shepherd on Strathbogie Station and that is the last I've heard of him. I have no idea when he died or what happened to his wife & daughters. Charlotte I have a Willliam WRIGHTMAN who married Mary Ann TEYS in 1853. This not my direct line as I am descended from Mary Ann's brother, James. The TEYS family also came from Murrurundi. James ended up in Condamine Qld but he owned and leased properies from Murrurundi to the border, many of them in the New England district. Hi List, Does anyone have history or information on a property called Springvale in the Armidale/Glen Innes area where police are currently looking for a missing person. Yesterday's Sunday Telegraph had a write up on a man who was believed to have had a SPELL put on him by witches and has now disappeared. It mentioned there were a couple of houses on this property. My Wells ancestors owned Springvale and I am sure some family members are buried there, would anyone know the history of the property or can you tell me a little about it.
