Hi ,try giving Doug Lennox a call at the lighthouse museum in Armidale. The 12 Lighthouse Regiment also had several trophies up there. His number is 67723417.Regards Grant Prendergast Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.
Peter and Marg, I have to agree that the Rootsweb server downtime cruelled most lists unfortunately. Then libraries subscribed to the Pay to View sites that many couldn't afford a subscription to and therefore the demise of lists where we had all previously exchanged information. If anyone decides to set up a Groups.io platform I'm happy to subscribe but definitely not admin, have enough on my plate atm! Regards, Jenny

Hi Peter I didn't really abandon this list . When we moved house 4 years ago I decided to retire I started this list c 2002ish. Most of Rootswbs lists lost their mojo when they were offline for many months I never unsubbed anyone . So if there are genes out there interested in this New England area maybe one would like to have a go via io.com. Managed to sort of set up a io.com group for NSW Central Coast ………….quite different to Rootsweb, Nsw Sydney is next , so I guess I've come out of retirement for a while !! The NSW surnames list never really got off the ground to start with. The Port Jackson convicts one is being very slow to up and etem for some reason Bye MargM NSW
Hello members of the AUS-NSW-NEW-ENGLAND mailing list, currently hosted on Rootsweb/Ancestry servers. My name is Peter and I have been the list administrator of this list since it was abandoned. I have no idea when it was abandoned nor who the previous admin was. On 7th January 2020, Rootsweb informed all list admins that they will not be providing any mailing list services after 2nd March 2020, except to keep the archives available (see RW email appended below). In other words, all lists will cease to be. If members want to keep this list active, they will need to host it on a new server. A number of such servers exist, such as groups.io, FaceBook, google groups. I personally do not wish to remain the admin of this list, so one of the members will need to step up as a new administrator if they want to keep this list alive. As a side comment, I think that many of the smaller lists were created on a person's whim in Rootsweb's heyday, and are probably past reviving. I can't remember when the last post to this list was. If there are any questions, please post them to the list, but do it quickly as time is running out quickly. Cheers Peter ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a great option to network with others in the genealogy community. Message boards are available for free with an Ancestry registered account. Thank you for being part of the RootsWeb family and contributing to this community. Sincerely, The RootsWeb team ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Listers Rootswebs mailing lists closing down 2 Mar. The Aus-CONVICTs list has moved to https://groups.io I retired from admining some Rootswebs mailing list back in 2015 when we moved house . Hi, My great grandmother was Maria Blake who married William House Her parents were George Blake & Elizabeth Fanny Watts. George’s parents were James & Hannah Blake. I have just started putting together a book summary of the Blake’s of Walcha - I’m just starting but have amassed a fair bit of information thus far, just by searching on the Webb. Interested in Clifford Wrenford Blake at the moment, particularly in his parents- I’m not certain that in information that lists his mother & father is absolutely correct? Any additional info on any of the Walcha Blake’s would be appreciated Thanks Sandra Sent from my iPad

Hello subscribers to the aus-nsw-new-england mailing list. In my previous post, I said hello to the wrong members. Please disregard the first line of my previous post. Hello subscribers to theaus-nsw-bluemountains mailing list. Sorry. Peter
Hello subscribers to the aus-nsw-bluemountains mailing list. All Rootsweb mailing lists have been nearly dead for the last two or so years. In February this year, Rootsweb upgraded the software that runs their 30,000 or so mailing lists, and after a few teething problems, the system is now up and running. The archives of past posts are gradually being restored, but this may take months. Subscribers should not notice much difference. The main difference for you is that you can register as a subscriber and then be able to adjust options for how you receive emails (e.g. single posts or digests in plain or MIME format, halt mail while on holidays and a few more things). Or you can leave things as they are. As a reminder, the purpose of this mailing list is for anyone with a genealogical interest in the New England area of New South Wales, Australia, including the towns of Armidale, Tamworth and Glen Innes and the surrounding areas. For questions about the operation of this list, please contact the list administrator at [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> To post to this list or respond to a post, use the email address [email protected] Your list is back up so if you want to keep this list active and going, please post your queries or information to the list. Hi there Margaret, Thanks for having a look for my SMITH's of Hillgrove, it was a long shot but sometimes you can get lucky. My dentist at Mona Vale so happens to come from Newtonmore in Scotland not much more than the proverbial one horse town but it's where my KENNEDY ancestors came from. Anyway thankyou again. Regards, Brent SMITH
No John. I have 7 Susan/Susanah’s in my tree but not one with those dates. Presumably you don’t have the parents’ names? George MORROW and his cousin Henry MORROW (of Co. Fermanagh, N. Ireland) married Allingham sisters. As far as I know, the rest of that Morrow family at that time remained on the south coast in the Berry area.
