    3. Hello members of the AUS-NSW-LIVERPOOL mailing list, currently hosted on Rootsweb/Ancestry servers. My name is Peter and I have been the list administrator of this list since it was abandoned. I have no idea when it was abandoned nor who the previous admin was. On 7th January 2020, Rootsweb informed all list admins that they will not be providing any mailing list services after 2nd March 2020, except to keep the archives available (see RW email appended below). In other words, all lists will cease to be. If members want to keep this list active, they will need to host it on a new server. A number of such servers exist, such as groups.io, FaceBook, google groups. I personally do not wish to remain the admin of this list, so one of the members will need to step up as a new administrator if they want to keep this list alive. As a side comment, I think that many of the smaller lists were created on a person's whim in Rootsweb's heyday, and are probably past reviving. I can't remember when the last post to this list was. If there are any questions, please post them to the list, but do it quickly as time is running out quickly. Cheers Peter ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails.  Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a great option to network with others in the genealogy community. Message boards are available for free with an Ancestry registered account. Thank you for being part of the RootsWeb family and contributing to this community. Sincerely, The RootsWeb team ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    3. Thank you Valerie for your input. I will contact the LFHS. The first marriage cert is probably too early to show parents. The second one might show parents, but unless I know the names of Thomas's parents from the first cert, I would not be able to link them to the first one. Neither Thomas's DC nor his first wife Ann's DC show parents. Grrr! Just makes the hunt more interesting !. Thank you for your response. Marie

    3. Hi Marie, As I see it you have a few options in confirming the marriages of Thomas Wade: * Purchase the relevant marriage and death certificates to try to link the individuals; * Visit the Liverpool Genealogy Society Inc workroom located at the Liverpool Regional Museum, Cnr Hume Highway & Congressional Drive, Liverpool. The work room is open Tuesday's to Saturday's from 10am to 3.30pm and has members on hand to help you with your research/enquiries. They have many local records on hand. * Request a research enquiry from the Liverpool Genealogy Society. The cost is $15 and the request should be addressed to Research Officer, LGSI, PO Box 830 Liverpool NSW 2170. Sorry I couldn't be of more help Regards Valerie -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Marie Donaldson Sent: Thursday, 10 September 2009 1:05 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [AUS-NSW-LIVERPOOL] Wade family history Hi Listers, I am interested in James Wade who married Emma (Emily) Jane Nixon at Liverpool in 1864. Was this the James Wade born to convicts Thomas Wade and Ann Collins at Liverpool in 1842. I can find only this one child to these parents, unusual for these times, but found a death for Ann Wade in 1854. I found a Thomas Wade marrying Margaret Ryan in 1855 in Sydney. 3. Hi John, I think I have your Moses ELDER. Findmypast gives only one entry for Moses ELDER - YOB 1879, left London for Sydney in 1927. NSW death index has an entry for Moses ELDER in 1958 at Chatswood - his parents are given as James & Sarah. The 1891 census has James & Sarah ELDER living in Durham with their son, Moses aged 11, amongst others. In 1911 he was living in Chester-la-Street, Durham with wife, Eveline Annie & son, William Mitchell aged 6. He also appears on the 1930 electoral roll for the Hunter district. I think this is your man if he came from England, however, there were other Moses ELDERs living in the USA at the same time. Interestingly, his mother's birthplace is given as America in the 1891 census. Let me know if I can be of any more assistance, Regards ......... Ros. On 20/05/2009, at 4:24 PM, I.J. 3. Hi Neil, I hope the following can be of some help. 1. Fairfield is one of the 38 suburbs of the city of Liverpool. 2 & 4. I did find an Australian war memorial record for Frederick Willis Meek at the following address http://awm.govau (use the search function and select first world war - embarkation roll) The following sites are worth having a look at: http://lgs.org.au This is the site for the Liverpool Genealogy Society Inc. They offer to perform research enquiries for $A 15. 3. A copy of a death certificate can be purchased from NSW births Deaths & Marriages website is http://bdm.nsw.gov.au There is an entry for Frederick Meek' s death in Fairfield on this website. His name was Frederick MEEK who was born in Essex, England in about 1899. He emigrated to Sydney, Australia on 24 May 1909 on a ship named Commonwealth with his father Frederick Willis MEEK and mother Daisy MEEK . However, from a record at the UK National Archives recently I have found an entry in the NSW deaths which lists 'Frederick MEEK died 1970, age 73 Fairfield, Liverpool, NSW. Reg. No. 20076/1970'. My questions are: 1. Is Fairfield in Liverpool? 2. Is it possible to search (on-line) any local records for Frederick MEEK living in Liverpool? 3. 2. Hi Lisa, I enjoyed reading your email and it wasn't too long. Just a couple of points that I hope can help: I have two ancestors buried at St Luke's Cemetary/Pioneer Park also. There names are Thomas Herbert and Bridget Herbert (nee Kearns) who were also living in Liverpool when your ancestors were. I was told that because they were 'poor' they would probably not have head stones (very disappointing). Also, over the years Pioneer Park has suffered at the hands of graffiti artists and others that have destroyed head stones etc. Can I suggest that you visit Liverpool City Library, 170 George Street Liverpool, Ph 02 9821 9422. They have a great historical section that has helped me over the years. Also I have joined the Liverpool Genealogical Society, address is PO Box 830 Liverpool 2170, website is www.lgs.or.au which has been a wonderful source of information. I wish you well in your research. Thanks for your offer for photo's. If I can help you in any way let me know. Best regards Valerie List Administrator for Aus-NSW-Liverpool

    3. Hi Valerie Thanks for the reply. What you said about some people being poor and therefore not having headstones makes sense. As my 4th Great Grandfather could of been in that situation and that is why there is no headstone, and the reason i am having problems locating the grave. As i walked through the grave yard last week and did not find nearly as many graves as i thought i would. I must say some of the graves have been left go. Not sure if there is someone who looks after the park or not. There was one Grave which had an iron fence around it and the grave is starting to sink into the ground. It is such a shame. I did not get to go to the Pioneer Park at Liverpool due the weather starting to turn ugly. I went to Liverpool Libary instead. I found it quite interesting. They have a wider selection of books and materials compared to Campbelltown libary. I intend to go back there next week and research some more. I am also interested in attending the family history sesions they hold every 3rd Saturday of the month. I will also take you up on your suggestion and join Liverpool Genealogical Society. Once again thankyou for your thoughts and help. 3. Hi All I am new to this list so i hope you maybe able to help me or maybe i can help you. I am after information on my 4th Great Grandfather Pte Samuel Marsden. Not to be confused with the Rev Samuel Marsden. He was the father of my 3rd Great Grandmother Elizabeth Earley b.28.01.1794 i believe she may of been born on Norfolk Island. Her mother was convict Rachel Earley and father was Samuel Marsden. Samuel left Rachel and Elizabeth sometime in 1794 and married a women called Ann Harmsworth in 1800 at St Phillips Church Sydney. Ann was musterd in Sydney in 1811 and in 1814 on stores with three children on and one child off stores. In 1825 she is noted as being the wife of Marsden, pensioner at Liverpool NSW. I believe that Ann may of died sometime between 1825 and 1828 as only Marsden is shown at Liverpool a shoe maker living with his youngest son Samuel. She and Samuel Marsden had at least five baptised children, the children are noted below. Samuel Marsden d.1830 in Liverpool NSW. I belive he is buried at St Lukes Cememtry Pionner Park. If anyone has any information that may assist me with my research, i would love to hear from you. Jospeh b.1799 Sarah b.1803 Thomas b.1805 Ann b.1807 Samuel b.1810 On another note I visited St Lukes Cememtry: Pionneer Park at Liverpol Last week and was not able to find his grave or Ann Harmsworth grave. I am planning on going back there again sometime soon. If anyone out there has descendants buried there that you would like me to look for i am happy to do so. I am also thinking of taking my camera and getting a picture of the graves. Some of the graves are in a very bad state, and the inscription on the head stone are very hard to read.
