    2. josee
    3. I was wondering if anyone had any of the mentioned families in their tree? I had searched everywhere for my HOWE family, only to find out that to start with it was HAUKES, HOUGH, HAIG. My Edward& Margaret came from Shannagolden, County Limerick. Ireland. Lord & Lady Monteagle helped them immigrate to Australia. I found all this out from the books Poverty to Promise & another book, West Limerick Families abroad. My great- great grandfather Edward was born c.1911 Shannagolden Limerick Ireland, married 1838 Margaret MCCARTHY at Shannagolden Limerick Ireland. They immigrated to Australia aboard the "Aliquis" in1837 with Margaret's sister Mary MCCARTHY, she married 1851 ? DOHERTY. Later Margaret's sisters Catherine & Johanna MCCARTHY arrived in Victoria aboard the " Lady Peel" 1848. I do not know what happened to Catherine but Johanna married 24 May 1850 Cornelius IRWIN at Roman Catholic West Maitland. Margaret & Edward HAUKES, HOWE ,HAIG HOUGH had six children. Some surnames that might be connected to this family- Patrick married Mary Casey 1857 Raymond Terrace. Edward married Mary Ann Gimbert 12 Jan 1869 Wesleyan Church, Murrurundi. Edward is my line. From Edward the surname was spelt HOWE Edward died 9 Mar 1846 Raymond Terrace & he is buried at Raymond Terrace. Margaret married Timothy HOOLEY 9 Nov 1846 Raymond Terrace. They had seven children. Timothy died 1877 Patrick Plains & Margaret died 1889 Newcastle. . Some of the families that might be connected- Mary married Alexander COPELAND 1867 Patrick Plains. Elizabeth married Albert NASH1902 Petersham. Daniel married Catherine CARLON 1882 Newcastle. There seems to be a few HOUGH families at Raymond Terrce but Edward does'nt seemed connected to them. I would love to hear from any-one who had connections with this family as they seemed to have scattered. josee
