Roseanne, The locals do call the area Swan Reach although it is actually a bend in the Hunter River south east of Hinton. Hinton is not far from Morpeth and East Maitland. You can see it on http://www.lands.nsw.gov.au/OnlineServices/ParishMaps/default.htm Click on "search for and view" and enter "Seaham" for parish name. Two results will come up, click on the one for the Parish (County Durham). Select "Sheet 1" and zoom in to bottom left. I did a google search and only came up with a place on the Murray River but as I have three baptisms for the East Maitland parish of the Catholic Church were the abode is listed as Swan Reach I can only assume that the village has since changed its name. The period I am looking at is 1849-1855. Incidently I have a transcript for one of these baptisms and it states the child was born at Morpeth. Aso is/was the place Patterson close to Swan Reach during the same time frame. Thank you for your assistance.
