Ellen Timson was born in London c1809; found guilty of pick-pocketing in 1829; transported for life and arrived on the "Lucy Davidson" on 29.11.1829. On 21.08.1832 she married David Bowerman at Hexham, living on Ash Island and Dempsey Island until his death in 1839. In 1840, she married Edward Stanton - aka Whitfield - and lived with him at Chichester. She died aged 50 on Christmas Day 1859 at the home of a daughter (probably Mary Egan) in Dungog. The death cert says that she was the wife of a farmer, and had 10 children living. She reputedly had 6 children by her first husband and 7 by her second, but only half her issue had their births registered. I believe that she had Mary, Sarah, Elisa, David and Bridget Bowerman (the last two died as infants) and that the Stanton children included Edward, John, James, Ellen, William and Martin. That appears to leave two children unaccounted for. Can any lister add to this information please? Ray
