Hello all Does anybody know if there was an age limit on being a witness at Roman Catholic weddings (or any weddings for that matter)? The particular wedding in question happened at Branxton Roman Catholic Church 1886. Would you think that a 14 year old would be permitted to be a witness? Thanks in advance for your expert opinions! Cathy
Don't know about 1886, but legally in NSW these days a witness has to have reached eighteen. Cathy, I don't believe there is an age limit on witnesses at a marriage Acutally quite often the bride was only 14. I had a gtgt who was only 14 and she married a 35 year old man.
