Hello Carol, Thomas HEMMINGS was killed in the Lambton Colliery 19 September 1885. He was 47 years old. The Newcastle Family History Society Inc nfhsinc@gmail.com, has published Nineteenth Century Coalmining Deaths which gives some details from the inquest, including the fact that he had worked in the colliery for 22 years. There is also a reference to some information from the local paper. Regards, Ken Shilling. -----Original Message----- From: Carol Dale [mailto:coradsl@tpg.com.au] Sent: Friday, 24 February 2006 4:29 PM To: AUS-NSW-Hunter-Valley-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [HV] Hemmings - Death in Lambton colliery accident Dear list, Whilst researching the family of Thomas Hemmings and his wife Emma, I found his entry in the Old Wallsend cemetery records as being killed at the Lambton Colliery in 1885.
