Hi everyone A simple google search came up with the answer re Blane Street. That part of Hunter Street betw. Brown St. and Cottage Ck. after Mr. Blane - dep. govenor of A. A. Co. Honeysuckle Point - Name given to the area adjacent to Newcastle Harbour due to the fact that the native plant growing there looked like a Honeysuckle flower. Later removed to make way for the construction of Lee Wharf. This indicates the area around Civic which is where the Honeysuckle Goods Yards and Lee Wharves were located and is now been redeveloped into housing etc See the site below which gives details for a lot of places in the Newcastle area http://www.ncc.nsw.gov.au/services/culture/library/research/localstudies/pla ce.cfm Best wishes Jan _____ From: AUS-NSW-Hunter-Valley-D-request@rootsweb.com [mailto:AUS-NSW-Hunter-Valley-D-request@rootsweb.com] Sent: Saturday, 24 June 2006 5:00 AM To: AUS-NSW-Hunter-Valley-D@rootsweb.com Subject: AUS-NSW-Hunter-Valley-D Digest V06 #141
