I was wondering if anyone had information on my MAUGHAN Family? MAUGHAN can be spelt MAUGHN/MAWM/ MAWN. On Mary Anne's Baptism cert. 20 May 1855 at St James Catholic Church Sydney, her parents were William MAUGHN & Mary Ann GATTIS at the time they were living at Crown Street, Sydney, the sponsors were Mark & Mary SMITH. On Mary's Death cert. parents were William MAUGHAN, occupation, Butcher & mother's name was Mary. On William (the son's) Baptism cert. 9 Jan 1852 St James Catholic Church Sydney, the family was living at Reily Street. William's parents were William MAWM & Mary GETTUS. I haven't found a marriage or Death cert. for William MAUGHAN & Mary Ann GATTIS. Family has said GATTIS is spelt GEDDES.(The accent & scribes at the time). On Mary Anne's(daughter) marriage cert- Mary Ann MAUGHAN married 12 Sep 1876 St Paul's Church of England, Murrurundi to John GIMBERT, Mary's usual residence Haydonton (Murrurundi) & she was a Butcher's daughter. This is the only family (for my family tree) to find out how the family came to Australia. Josee
