    3. Im getting sick of paying for spam to be down loaded,I had 32 emails,2 where for me ,the rest where spam, I have a spam filter with Nortons, and I delete them, and have them blocked, I dont want to change my email address,as its on a few sites and people get in touch years later. BUT how do these emails get through, how else do I stop them, they are chemist ones, plus some unsavory ones. One day one opened as it came through, not good if there where children on the computer, how do we stop them, Carole NSW

    3. Hi - A couple of suggestions - Get an email provider which gives you virus protection + a spam filter And/or use several email addresses. 1 email address for trusted friends, 1 for internet purchases, 1 for eBay etc, then sort the incoming mail by email address - or even set the email not to download from certain addresses by uncheckng the mail accounts box - tools/accounts/properties so you can control when emails from that address are downloaded Also go to tools/options/security + tick all the security options such as block images etc I use Incredimail not outlook express as this gives me the option to delete from the server so it doesn't even get to the computer Having said that I still get rubbish but I can filter it fairly well Never reply to it - do not 'unsubscribe' etc as then the sender knows you exist + you will get even more - simply delete them It's a real problem - I tell you if we took the medical advice we are offered we would be in a medical museum! 3. Hi Outlook Express is the greatest load of ..... as a mail program that was ever invented. It has more holes in it than and industrial sized colander. Basically, I don't like it. Mozilla Thunderbird is far superior and it is FREE, FREE, FREE!!! And it doesn't cost anything plus it comes with an adaptive mail filter - a filter that "learns" as you mark emails as "Junk". Over a short period (10-14 days) it will get to the stage of stopping 80-90% of the junk and after 3 months its near as you'll get to 100% effective. (Yes, I like and use this one.) Just google the name and you can download it for free. Hope you get on well with your Mozilla Greg Palmer Wollongong, NSW.
