Hello Ian, Sometime ago I had contact with Bronwyn Howell (brhowell@bigpond.com) a lady who was a descendant of the Munro family that you are researching - she contacted me because of my husbands connection with William Munro, brother of David Augustus. She gave me quite bit of information which stated that: David Augustus Monro and Caroline Veal Wicks were married by Rev. George C. Boodle by Banns,at Muswellbrook Witnesses J.Perry and Martha Jane Wicks from Merriwa. Left Merriwa with young son Alexander soon after 1861. He was once a police constable in the district - the district constable from at least 1852 till 1861 but was hurt trying to break up a fight at the hotel run by his wife Caroline. He was working as a pound keeper in Mendooran at the time of his death. Died 13th March 1868. His wife Caroline remarried after his death and had a large family His parents were Alexander and Jane (Ross) Alexander and Jane arrived in Australia on board the "Lady McNaughten" on 28th January, in 1839, The ship sailed from the Scottish Port of Cromarty close to the Munro's home in Rosskeen. Their Children Christiana, David, William, James, Jane and Margaret came with them According to the Bounty Index Alexander's parents were David and Christiana/Christina (Evans).
