Hi Maria & List I do find this interesting - thank you. It actually sheds new light on a family member Bernard Fitzsimmons (if it is the same one). I have records of Bernard coming out to Australia as an assisted immigrant with his family in 1856 - but maybe he was here before! His brothers Michael & Peter were both transported in 1831. There is a gap in the births of Bernard's children (born in England) between 1843 and 1848- this "transportation" then becomes a definite possibility as there is no other person of this name dying in the colony after this time frame.
