    3. Hi Anne, Firstly, there is nothing in the article on the Scots influence - in fact it lists no names (now I look closely) and is quite general. The article about the Geman settlers has no mention of Buffier (or variants). In relation to the "Parland" it says: "The German families in the first three immigrant ships which arrived in Port Jackson in 1849 - Beulah, Parland and Harmony - came from a cluster of wine-making villages and towns, mentioned above....>(here a long list).... The German vinedressers, like their wives, who also worked in the fields, were overworked and underpaid, bullied, and generally treated with ill respect".
