Dear Brent and Jan, We should remember that prior to civil registration the records are church records, and show the district for that particular church, which may be different for another church in their boundaries. Some of the churches had roving Ministers, and registrations for events which took place weeks ago might have been recorded when the Clergy was next back at his church, having been on the road on horseback. Forget about jumping into the air conditioned fast car on good (maybe) roads and be in Sydney in a few hours. It took a week or so then. The marriage is recorded in the Parish Register for Christ Church, not the Parish Register for Hexham. Please see my earlier posts. 2009/10/3 Bill <[email protected]>: >
